(HOLY WAR VOL.3) - Noah results and Toshiaki Kawada vs Akira Taue "Talk Battle" notes (1st October 2018)

Toshiaki Kawada opened the show by thanking everybody for coming today; he thanked Jun Akiyama for the provision of the All Japan athletes, and spoke about his talk battle with Akira Taue, saying he wanted to hear many stories that had not been told.

Aside from the participation of Junta Miyawaki (with a new hairstyle that looks like Minoru Tanaka's) and Kaito Kiyomiya, Noah's referee, Shu Nishinaga and young rookie, Yoshiki Inamura were in attendance today (Inamura was seconding).

Junta Miyawaki vs Minoru Tanaka

Said to be a very good match with some very vocal Miyawaki fans, but ultimately Miyawaki was not going to avenge his loss against Minoru Tanaka at Global Junior League 2018.
Miyawaki is still to get his first win, but lets face it, its not going to be outside of a Noah ring, and against Minoru Tanaka.

Winner: Minoru Tanaka via submission

Toshiaki Kawada vs Akira Taue ("Talk Battle")

Kawada: It was great to have a friend who was so at liberty
Taue: I used to be a good rival, and now I'm a good drinking buddy
Kawada: Please stop smoking and give up drinking
Taue: I'm not going to quit smoking, I am not going to give up drinking.
  • Akira Taue is probably the only person not scared by seeing Toshiaki Kawada stretching out. He said if he tried it he would fall over, but he thought about doing the sumo stomps.
  • They didn't talk too much about Noah, I don't think Taue really wanted to; however, he appeared in good spirits. There was a relaxed atmosphere between them.
  • Memories of Misawa
  • They talk about Akira Taue's sumo days, he was apparently a follower of Aobajō Yukio
  • Taue likened Kawada to being "like a bullying mother-in-law" during one of their disputes
  • Kawada emotional about Taue talking about when they used to team, Taue said that Kawada was "The most reliable partner, he had the breath of OM*"
  • They talked about each others businesses (Kawada has a Ramen restaurant, and Akira Taue a restaurant on the outskirts of Tokyo, which is somehow still in business with Junta Miyawaki descending on it to do the "Steak Challenge"); Kawada said that Taue's is crowded with locals despite being in a dark countryside area without any streetlights. Taue made a joke about the local wildlife.
  • Akira Taue appeared wearing sandals instead of running shoes when All Japan sent some of their wrestlers to a seaside training camp for three days. Taue, known for his aversion to training, said that "seaside is for sandals". To Taue, why on earth would you wear anything else?
  • Taue says that Kawada damaged three or four of his front teeth
  • When Noah was founded, it was Taue that invited Kawada (not Misawa), Kawada said no, and Taue knew not to pressure him.
  • At the end of the talk battle, Jumbo Tsuruta's theme played, and it was quite emotional for them (Jumbo Tsuruta had been a great senior in All Japan, and a legend in wrestling and he had a hand in training all of the Four Pillars. When he passed away Misawa started Noah's lasting association with the Japan Transplant Association as Tsuruta had died of kidney failure); they also played Misawa's theme and Kobashi's theme.
  • The audience felt that half an hour was not enough, they wanted to hear more, especially about Taue's time in Sumo.
*Best way I can render this. Basically "OM" is the sound of the universe. Om is a mantra, or vibration, that is traditionally chanted at the beginning and end of yoga sessions. ... It's both a sound and a symbol rich in meaning and depth and when pronounced correctly it is actually AUM

Kaito Kiyomiya, Daichi Hashimoto and Tōru Sugiura vs Shiro Koshinaka, Takao Omori and Yoshiaki Fujiwara.

Fierce fight between Kiyomiya and Omori.

Winner: Axe Bomber by Takao Omori on Tōru Sugiura

Other notes
  • Mitsuya Nagai got into a row with Kyohei Wada
  • Akira Taue told his "Steak Izakaya" t-shirts at the venue
  • Kuishinbo Kamen came to the ring prepared against his match against Jun Kasai, and had weapons like scissors and hammers confiscated.
  • Usual group photograph at the end
  • Toshiaki Kawada is planning a "Holy War Vol.4" has said it will either be this year, or early next year.
