(NOAH) THE GREEN GUIDE TO "STEAK IZAKAYA"

"Steak Izakaya" is a restaurant which is run by former Noah wrestler, President, and one of the four pillars, Akira Taue.

The restaurant is quite rural, so it is not perhaps the easiest to get to for those relying on taxi, bus and train, and Toshiaki Kawada once made a joke about the local wildlife rolling around in the woods.

Akira Taue will most likely be there, but as he is an elderly man in uncertain health, he may of course not be. Taue has long been a gourmet with a love of cooking, Naomichi Marufuji said that at the All Japan dojo, Taue was more likely to be cooking than training (Taue apparently bought a machine to mince meat).
The walls are decorated with pictures of Taue's wrestling career, the most famous being that long ago summer at the beach with All Japan.

Getting to the restaurant, as I have said, is not easy

1. From Ueno station take the Jōban Line (or really any line such as the Tsuchihara, Mito or Takahagi) do not take the Toride Line)
2. Get off at Ushiku Station and take the West Entrance
3. You want to then take the "Kanto Railway" bus to Ushiku Station
4. Take the Midorigaoka Complex (Midorigaoka Daichi line)
5. Get off at "Shikisaki High School entrance"
6. It is them about three minutes on foot to the restaurant

Depending on your level of Japanese (and that of the staff in your native language\and or English), they are happy to help you if you call them if you are lost, so it may be better to visit with a native Japanese speaker if you can.

The restaurant does not have much for those who are vegan, but they do offer dishes for vegetarians and pescatarians.

There is also a meat eating competition which takes place to see who can eat 15kg meat the quickest (the fastest time so far has been fifteen minutes. Junta Miyawaki has naturally done it, but he is not the champion).
