(NOAH) Interview with Eita - a parade requested after defeating HAYATA at Ryogoku Kokugikan! Thoughts on the GHC Jnr championship, and the difference from DragonGate.
Proresu Today
Pro Wrestling Noah will hold "ABEMA presents MAJESTIC 2022 - N Innovation" at Ryogoku Kokugikan in Tokyo on the 29th April, with the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship (Champion Eita vs challenger HAYATA) held as the main event. We conducted an interview with Eita. The champion said to HAYATA, the reticent challenger, at the signing ceremony "I hate this hypocrite, so I don't think anything".
After ten months after participating in Noah, Eita, who has become the junior champion, talks about the Noah Juniors, his thoughts on the belt and the differences from DragonGate.
① About ten months have passed since you entered Noah's fight
Q: It's been about ten months since you came in from DragonGate. In the blink of an eye, you swiftly became champion and the Eita style penetrated the Noah mat at once.
EITA: I think so too.
Q: Did you feel a response yourself?
EITA: There was. I think I was blessed with a partner and a team. Because there are similar members gathered, I can do this without being constrained by worries.
Q: How do you feel when you work with the members of Perros Del Mal De Japon?
EITA: It's really easy to do because everyone feels free.
Q: Is it fun to work with your current team?
EITA: There is no room for that. So, when my ally decides he is going to do something, right then I can do it instantly. I am grateful for the fact that they go along with what I want to do.
Q: Well, that kind of thing is important.
EITA: That's right. I had a team in a different promotion, but how hard is it to bring it together? "I want to do this as a wrestler", even so I had to tell my seniors that "I am aiming for this, not that". I was pretty desperate when I had that team.
Q: Leaders are also required to have a sense of responsibility
EITA: Without cohesion, it is is no good. Anyway, we all said we would wear the same clothes, and even such trivial matters about who would second matches.
Q: After participating in the Noah Juniors, do you feel that you have been competing with your ability as a wrestler rather than as a leader?
EITA: There was a sense of being told, "do whatever you want". I'm in a better position to say that my range of motion has expanded.
Q: It's the way in which you where able to grow by putting yourself in a new field.
EITA: Noah and DragonGate have completely different styles, so I learned a lot about touch rules*
Q: What exactly was the different in touch rules?
EITA: I didn't know what it was in the beginning. "You have to have a touch rope", I was like, "What is this?" It took me a long time to get used to it, and I still sometimes forget about it.
Q: Do you feel like you have to switch your brain on and off as you go back and forth?
EITA: I have a great mind
Q: Until now, you where good operating as you where, but now you have to work collectively in the rules.
EITA: That's desperate for me too
Q: It seems that you are the one who is desperately producing results
②48th GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship (Champion Eita vs Challenger HAYATA)
Q: You became champion, and you will meet HAYATA. There was a press conference today (April 13th), but HAYATA was almost silent. You said, "You have a mouth, speak", but how did you feel when you saw him?
EITA: He is not suitable. He is not the person who is going to stand at Ryogoku. I thought, "Don't speak, don't come!" I wonder what he came for.
Q: By nature he is someone who does not speak. There is a feeling of an air of not being a trigger for conversation.
EITA: It's really bad, the bad atmosphere he created.
Q: Was it like someone who shouldn't come today, has done?
EITA: He's not the person who should be found in the main.
Q: Do you have an image of being looked down on?
EITA: Well, that's because he can't speak Japanese.
Q: There is a part of HAYATA that challenges with underhand tactics and bloody fights. Based on that, how do you feel about HAYATA as a wrestler?
EITA: Well, there is his quiet technique. That's it.
Q: There is an image of a wrestler who is not from DragonGate.
EITA: It feels like fans follow because he is silent. Well, it's impossible for me to say nothing during the match or not speak at today's press conference.
Q: It is a complete contrast, as all DragonGate wrestlers are good on the microphone.
EITA: I have said it many times, he is unsuitable to be in the main. It's exciting when he does bad things. I hate that because he is the worst guy. That's why he's a "hypocrite".
③ Feelings about the GHC Junior Championship
Q: At the press conference, a statement was made that the "GHC Juniors are important". The belt, that the strongest in battle have worn, you are now wearing as the 48th champion. What are your feelings?
EITA: "This belt has finally met a good wrestler", that is the greatest. I think a lot of legendary wrestlers have worn it, but I think it is at it's best right now.
Q: The belt too is happy.
EITA: It shines the most, right?
Q: Kenta Kobashi used to respect the belt so much that he once said that he slept with the belt above his head. How are you managing the belt?
EITA: I'm not sleeping with it above my head, I put it next to me and we sleep together. This is a belt that I caught by myself, so I have to take good care of it. It may be just an object, but the belt has a feeling of life.
Q: With the weight of history, your blood, sweat and tears are trapped within the belt.
EITA: But not the successive generations. First of all, when you become a champion you deposit it with the company, so I am taking it home.
Q: At the press conference today, you refused to put the belt in front of you.
EITA: I went with the perspective that I didn't want to be touched.
Q: There is also an appeal in DragonGate. I think you are proud of doing something for the DragonGate fans.
EITA: I think it's quite a feat. I think there was a junior tag in the past, but I don't think there has ever been a single. The reaction of the fans has changed. Until now, there was no applause during admission, but it happens now. Now, there is even applause even when I am called.
Q: You have a track record of good work.
EITA: Until now, there might have been a part that stuck out as a heel, but now I am kicked out of that team, I am in a middling position of being neither a babyface or a heel. But for the watching fans, I think it's like "he's back". I think they applauded as they were happy to see it. I also have the feeling of looking down, showing off my belt and saying "I'll show you." I have worn various belts, but I cherish this the most.
Q: You feel about it that much.
EITA: This is a belt with a long history, and because of that, I can't pollute it.
Q: You are about to enter into a battle with HAYATA, do you have a plan that you are aiming for when you have defended?
EITA: I want a parade after defending
Q: What kind of parade? Kobe?*
EITA: It can be anywhere, and it can be nationwide.
Q: Like going around the venue with fans before the event?
EITA: In an open car
Q: Sounds good
EITA: The best image is of Disneyland's electrical parade*. I want to participate in a Disneyland parade if possible, surrounded by Mickey and others.
Q: That would be a great achievement if you could appear in a Disney parade.
EITA: The champion has to do that, it's no good if you don't.
Q: You want to become a wrestler, who creates a special feeling like never before as the junior champion?
EITA: I want to make an image that it should be like this. That's why I want to create a legend.
⑤ The opponent he wants to fight in the future
Q: Various wrestlers will participate in decisive fight at Ryogoku, are there any wrestlers in Noah or in other promotions who you want to fight in the future?
EITA: I want to fight an interesting wrestler
Q: Do you have anyone in mind?
EITA: I don't have one. Not in Noah.
Q: Maybe there are in another promotion?
EITA: Perhaps there are many, maybe I just don't know yet.
Q: For example Eita, are there any wrestlers you admire or want to fight across time and space?
EITA: Yes, yes...Andre The Giant. Because he is someone I couldn't see live, I want to fight people who are called legends.
Q: Fighting a legendary wrestler is an asset in your life as a wrestler.
EITA: I really think so
Q: I would like to see a match against the existing legend of Tatsumi Fujinami in Japan as well
EITA: Well, other than Japanese
Q: NOSAWA Rongai called Mil Mascaras and Terry Funk to his produce
EITA: Then I have no choice but to ask NOSAWA
Q: I think there are many things that can be obtained when an the champion of an active generation like you, matches up with a legend.
EITA: Yes, before Andre, I want to fight Perro Aguayo Jnr, who created "Perros Del Mal". I was allowed to join the same team in Mexico, and even though the remaining days where fixed before I returned to Japan, he said "You should stay in Mexico". He would arrange accommodation. I had a ticket to return home, and I went crying, but I had a desire to want to fight.
Q: The environment in which you are in now is different. Perro Aguayo Jnr will be surprised to see your personal growth.
EITA: It is a system like repayment or something like that. Once I left Perros and returned to Japan, and now after a few years, I am finally in Perros in Japan. I want him to know that.
Q: It will be interesting to give back in such a form.
EITA: It will be a huge force.
⑥ About the Noah Juniors
Q: In the Noah Junior portion, Daisuke Harada said "Make the Noah Juniors the best in Japan and the best in the world". Various wrestlers are arriving in Noah, but how have you experienced the Noah Juniors as champion?
EITA: First of all, I am the leader of the Noah Juniors at the moment, and even if Harada says to "make it the best in Japan", it doesn't resonate. It is me that has to say that. I can't do what the guy who isn't champion says. The person at the top must say more and more.
Q: From now on, you will talk more and more about your responsibilities as champion.
EITA: On the 29th there was a visual of "Beautiful Junior". Kotoge, Harada, HAYATA, YO-HEY...why am I not there? Why is the champion missing?
Q: Certainly, the champion Kazuyuki Fujita was there on the 30th.
EITA: You can see it. I have no choice in this situation.
Q: If each person challenged, and they where taken on and destroyed, there would have been nobody next.
EITA: I am the only one in the end.
Q: It can be said that the strength of your feelings resonate.
⑦ The difference from DragonGate
Q: You mentioned the differences between Noah and DragonGate earlier. How do you see the differences when you participate in matches?
EITA: The case of the touch rules...
Q: How hard is the mat?
EITA: The mat is different, and the ring feels higher.
Q: Is Noah's a little bigger?
EITA: Yes, the ropes are higher. Usually when I am wrestling in DragonGate and then I suddenly go and wrestle in Noah, the pace and the heights of the rope don't match.
Q: Do you feel worried about how to use techniques if the ring is different from the one you are used to?
EITA: Well, even if there is that, I have to deal with it as best I can. I am also the champion, and I don't show it.
Q: Thank you very much, I am looking forward to April 29th.
EITA: Please look forward to the Eita parade (laughs(
*DragonGate uses Lucha Libre's no-touch rule. This means that a wrestler can tag in during a match when his partner is outside the ring. They don't have to physically tag in.
