(NOAH) "I'm grateful to Nagayo-san" ~ Assistant Director Rongai's summary of MONDAY MAGIC'S 11th November Shinjuku show
4th December 2024
(Issue No. 2329)
The Shinjuku event on November 11th was a fulfilling event, with Marigold's Kouki Amarei crowned the first GHC Women's champion. What did Assistant Director NOSAWA Rongai think afterwards?
Once again, we bring you Weekly Pro Wrestling's customary summary!
Q: The first GHC Women's champion has been decided.
NOSAWA: The commentators were also bewildered by the power of magic. It was a Rumble match with 10 participants, but 11 people showed up (laughs) and it was Chigusa Nagayo (laughs even louder). That's the kind of thing I like. I spent a lot of time preparing. MARVELOUS and MARIGOLD are like fish and meat, the main dish, so these two promotions only interacted in MONDAY MAGIC. The top wrestlers were all too conscious of each other and dropped out, and a young person who was desperate took the spot, and I could see the future of the women's GHC.
Q: Will there be a title defense in MARIGOLD?
NOSAWA: MONDAY MAGIC isn't a women's promotion, so it's all about timing. There is no need for any specific fixed ideas like it had to be in Noah because it's the GHC, purely I want people to enjoy it. This time, I also got goosebumps when the legendary Nagayo appeared. I want the female wrestlers to learn from her presence, and I wanted to have a match with her. I wanted to do the Seitsuki* together...to be honest, was a bit worried, but I want to applaud the eleven wrestlers who participated. I thought everyone was a real pro. Rumbles and 4-Way matches are difficult, but they made it into a work of art.
Q: The WCP World Heavyweight Championship suddenly became a reality, with Titus Alexander taking the belt from Kevin Blackwood.
NOSAWA: It was like an American wrestling dish with a surprise bonus that was only available that day. It was a great match. It was like a good old ROH title match, a dish that showed that American wrestling isn't just WWE. I think it showed that there are many different ingredients in the world.
Q: In the pre-match for the GHC Hardcore Championship, the champion Shuji Ishikawa, and challenger Masato Tanaka, engaged in a fierce fight, right from the very start.
NOSAWA: On that particular day, it felt like the appetizer would overshadow the main course. A match between two seasoned ingredients before their first singles match. Old-time hardcore (laugh). I think these two could have put on a good match without having to go hardcore (laughs).
Q: The main event was Kaito Kiyomiya & Kai Fujimura vs Takashi Sugiura & Yu Owada*
NOSAWA: The previous GHC Women's Championship Rumble was the main dish, and that match was the dessert. I added fresh ingredients, Fujimura and Owada, to the ongoing GHC Heavyweight pre-match.
Q: I enjoyed some good food again this time too.
NOSAWA: We've gotten to the point where we can offer high-quality course meals without relying on surprises, and content that can compete on the world stage. Our goal is to provide content that can be understood even if you don't speak the same language. Above all, MONDAY MAGIC is enoyed purely by high net worth wrestling fans, and they have made it into a brand. Well, it's fine if everyone is fooled by me because you won't lose anything.
Finally, I just want to say this once again: I'm really grateful to Nagayo-san.
Notes
Yu Owada: Now Owada-san (the "san" represents his attitude problem, as now even his seniors have to call him that).
