(ALL JAPAN) Dangers and pitfalls abound... Going all-out without a specific goal is a warning sign.
22nd January 1985 (Issue No.76)
Davey Boy Smith and Dynamite Kid have been competing in All Japan Pro Wrestling's "All Star Wars" New Year's series every year since the Strongest Tag League at the end of last year. Smith and Kid's motto is to go all-out, and they're sure to dominate at each venue. AJPW, which is confident in its foreign wrestlers, probably never expected that their popularity would be stolen by a junior tag team from New Japan Pro Wrestling.
The value of a professional wrestler is determined by whether or not they can draw an audience. Even if a wrestler is at the top of his game in the US, if he can't draw fans in Japan, he can't be considered a top-tier wrestler. In that respect, Smith and Kid are known as "money makers".
All Japan Pro Wrestling held a show at Korakuen Hall from January 2nd to 3rd, and Smith and Kid's matches were surely impressive. Though they're not usually featured in main events, their entrance sends a chill down the spine of the crowd. That's how tense these two men are.
Over the course of three days, the two teamed up to take on Isamu Teranishi and Animal Hamaguchi's Restoration Army, Dragon and Tiger Mask's regular team, and the duo of Kuniaki Kobayashi and Yoshiaki Yatsu. All of the matches were fantastic, and fans were thrilled by Smith and Kid. However, some issues remained: their all-out fights lacked a central theme. If they only satisfy the fans who gather for the match on that day, their future is uncertain. Eventually, they will get tired of fighting with all their might, and to avoid that, they should fight with a purpose and a theme. Otherwise, they may lose their luster in the face of the Restoration Army and International Pro.

After finishing off Tiger Mask with a Romero Special, Smith taunted Tiger Mask.
Smith stood firm against Tiger Mask's plancha suicida, telling him, "Go ahead and try!"
