(NOAH) "THE GREEN GUIDE TO RATELS"

RATELS

RATELS are a four man stable consisting of Daisuke Harada, Tadasuke, YO-HEY & HAYATA. They formed in March 2017, and have since reached skyscraping heights of fan popularity, so much so they will producing their own produce show in June 2018. Noah have not had anyone do produce shows since the mid 2000s when Mitsuharu Misawa let KENTA & Marufuji do their own, and in 2015 when "Super Violent Army" (a stable of Takeshi Morishima, Kenoh, Hajime Ohara, Maybach Taniguchi and Masa Kitamiya) did one.

A "RATEL" is a species of Honey Badger. While the creature is not native to Japan (its actually African), it is known for its ferocious fighting style. This is also the reason for YO-HEY & HAYATA coming out to "Africa" by Toto, which has become an iconic song among Noah fans.

RATELS are known for their mixture of both strong style, technical and high flying styles. They are a vibrant group of personalities, who manage to encompass something for everyone across both the junior heavyweight and the heavyweight divisions in Noah.
There has been slight dissension among them at times, usually caused by challenges to Daisuke Harada's belt, but they always make up in the end. In such situations Tadasuke (unless it is him causing the problems) will side with Harada, while YO-HEY and HAYATA usually side with each other.

So who are RATELS as individuals?

Daisuke Harada
(aka "The Boss" - YO-HEY)

The leader of RATELS. He is the one who perpetually seems to hold the GHC Junior Heavyweight Championship against all challengers, including two members of RATELS (Tadasuke and HAYATA, so far YO-HEY has not challenged).
Harada is usually easy-going and friendly, but less tolerant when his championship is challenged, in which case he can be pretty ruthless, especially to others in RATELS who dare cross him. Normally somewhat "poker faced" as Naomichi Marufuji once described him, he looks like a shark which smells blood when angered.

Tadasuke. This gif with Jay Bradley at "Power Hall" in 2018, sums up all.

Tadasuke
(aka "Mother" - YO-HEY)

Usually Daisuke Harada's second in command. At the time of writing (May 2018), the only one of RATELS not yet to hold a belt, although he will be challenging for the GHC Junior Heavyweight with Harada.
Referred to by YO-HEY as "mother" (which others in Noah join in with), due to his round appearance, long hair and the fact that he is the one that usually seconds them and carries them to the back, Tadasuke in the ring plays the crafty villain and as ever appears to have his own secret agenda.

HAYATA
(aka "The Bride\The wife" - YO-HEY. "Beautiful HAYATA" - fans)

YO-HEY's silent tag partner, known for saying one word (usually when prodded into it by YO-HEY), which is "same". Sometimes he says nothing at all and just walks off. At one point he did manage so speak a sentence after a single match he had, but then YO-HEY appeared and started chattering, and so he became silent again.
Referred to by YO-HEY as "The Bride" or "The Wife" because they tend to go everywhere together (although they haven't had many tag matches at the time of writing as HAYATA seems to be going into the heavyweight division), and also because HAYATA can be strict with him, i.e. he doesn't like to shake hands, and doesn't let YO-HEY do it either. Daisuke Harada had a struggle to get him to, Katsuhiko Nakajima only succeeded in one match as he said he would swap with him to give him Harada (who he was feuding with at the time), and YO-HEY seems to be the only one he will shake hands with without hesitation.

YO-HEY

Flamboyant, talkative and plagued with an overactive imagination, which can sometimes (and has done) get him into trouble, YO-HEY is the splash of color to a group with three staid personalities. He is also the one who has given nicknames to the other three, and other people in and outside of Noah (i.e. Gurukun Mask was "Fish Face" and Hitoshi Kumano was "The Bear")
Beautiful high flyer, known for his amazingly beautiful dropkicks, and the rarely seen "Bamboo Dragonfly" (he tends to use the GAMEN-G more these days as a finisher).

Gurukun Mask offers his hand to YO-HEY after the title match in 2017; before he accepts, YO-HEY has to check that HAYATA isn't watching (Tadasuke also looks too!!)

TRIVIA
  • Both YO-HEY & HAYATA share the same first name "Yohei" - Yohei Fujita & Yohei Hayata. HAYATA is the elder by six months.
  • Daisuke Harada's finisher "Katayama German Suplex" is named after an area of Osaka, of which he is a native.
  • HAYATA is more vocal in the ring than he is out of it, you can always hear him speak as he smokes heavily and his voice is gruff as a result.
  • Tadasuke is the eldest in RATELS, then Daisuke Harada, then HAYATA and then YO-HEY (this is probably part of the reason YO-HEY calls him "mother", that and the fact that he told him once he couldn't eat the pellets they fed to the deer at Nagano Deer Park).
  • HAYATA & YO-HEY sometimes play soccer in the local park for recreation
  • Everyone has a background in Osaka Pro in some form, this was where YO-HEY first met HAYATA.
  • In July 2015, YO-HEY had a tryout with WWE.
  • For the New Year show in 2017, Daisuke Harada dressed as HAYATA (who was not impressed and shortly afterwards challenged him for the championship).
  • YO-HEY has two cats, who didn't get along at first. This led to sympathy from Go Shiozaki who has three, and said he knows how it felt.
