(NOAH) THE GREEN GUIDE TO THE LAST NIGHT OF GLOBAL TAG LEAGUE (Wednesday, April 11, 2018, Korakuen Hall)

The teams where:
The Aggression (Katsuhiko Nakajima & Masa Kitamiya. At the time of writing still the current Heavyweight Tag Team Champions)
GoKai (Go Shiozaki & Kaiyo Kiyomiya. Not as active as a tag-team as of June 2018, but Kiyomiya remains somewhat dependent on Shiozaki, and Shiozaki is still quite protective over Kiyomiya)
50 Funky Powers (Mohammed Yone & Quiet Storm)
Cody Hall & KAZMA SAKAMOTO
Takashi Sugiura & Kenoh (they managed to get on well, despite Kenoh losing the GHC Heavyweight to Sugiura. Kenoh has challenged Sugiura for the GHC Heavyweight, and Sugiura had admitted, he cannot team with Kenoh any longer now, its time to let him go as "Kenoh doesn't want to listen to Pops anymore")
Naomichi Marufuji and Atsushi Kotoge (they went through a period where they didn't get along very well, but Marufuji did his part in giving Kotoge the last push he needed in the heavyweight division to be a singles competitor. He wasn't teamed with Kiyomiya as Kiyomiya needed more input that he had the time to give, Kotoge needed less help being more experienced than Kiyomiya).
Masao Inoue & Akitoshi Saito
Mitsuya Nagai and Maybach Taniguchi.

It came down to Kenoh & Takashi Sugiura vs GoKai. Go Shiozaki had told them when the two finalists were determined that they were a "half-assed" team; Kenoh wasn't too amused, but Takashi Sugiura couldn't stop laughing and had to walk up and down to try and keep a straight face, he was even laughing about it on Twitter later.

Global Tag League had been hard physically on Takashi Sugiura, he appeared with his calf taped, which then stretched to his shoulder which caused some fan concern. However, a trip to see President Kitai at the KO Gym (a private gym in Tokyo) soon sorted this out, and he appeared fit and well without any taping for the title defense against Atsushi Kotoge.

We then get a recap of the events leading up to the two teams who will face off against each other tonight, and the fight card for the evening.

Since 2009, Akitoshi Saito has worked the opening matches. Its not a sign that Noah have in his abilities, (or that of the fans), its that since the accident with Misawa, Saito understandably suffered a knock in his confidence and he didn't want to get involved in story-lines or title matches. Noah let him do this, and now it seems that after nine almost ten years, he is ready to go again, but at this point he was still working the opening matches.
Noah did start to tentatively prepare for him to have a larger role by having him do comedy with Masao Inoue (which worked, although they didn't win or even have any success in Global Tag League), Saito seemed happy with it though, and the crowd responded well to him doing it. I think this gave Saito the confidence to take things a little further and get involved in the "Generational War" which happened two months later.
