(Noah) Event recap - 28th July 2017, Korakuen Hall

"Formerly, Morishima and Genba muttered that they they were making a new era, I think Akitoshi was the next to get it. Then the Suzuki Army came and it all dried up. So, Akitoshi's resurgence is Noah born".

Its Typhoon season in Japan, and of course it chose to make landfall today and bring heavy rain to Tokyo. One fan commented that they arrived for the private Noah's ark fan club photo session with Hi69 & Minoru Tanaka (the GHC Junior Tag Champions) "dripping and dirty". Noah did not have a sell out crowd today, but considering the weather, had an excellent one.
Takashi Sugiura made a rare appearance at the merchandise booth to sign autographs today (one fan commented that he seemed to be there for a long time. These sessions last for about twenty minutes, so maybe he stayed a little longer).

During the intermission the two new trainees from the Noah dojo, Kimiya Okada and Yoshiki Inamura, came to the ring and made their announcement asking everyone for their support in their debut. They will debut on the 5th August.
Okada says he will surpass the seniors, and a little more humble, Inamura said he will bring a new intensity to Noah.

MATCH ONE
Yoshinari Ogawa vs Seiya Morohashi vs Junta Miyawaki

Everyone is eagerly anticipating Junta Miyawaki getting his first win as it is felt that the time is drawing near. Despite being opponents today, Seiya Morohashi was still giving advice to him.

WINNER: Yoshinari Ogawa with the backdrop on Junta Miyawaki (4 minutes and 18 seconds)

MATCH TWO
Maybach Taniguchi, Mitsuya Nagai, KAZMA SAKAMOTO & Cody Hall vs Masao Inoue, Sun Yulin, Ling Dong Xuan & Chang Feng

After the match Mitsuya Nagai announced the name of his gang, they are known as "The Hooligans", and Cody Hall appears to have gotten rid of the beard. Fans have mentioned that they want Jay Bradley to return to Noah and join as soon as possible.
The match today went straight to a brawl in the crowd.

WINNER: Maybach Taniguchi with the Zwei Bomb on Ling Dong Xuan (9 minutes and 20 seconds)

MATCH THREE
GLOBAL JUNIOR TAG LEAGUE
Daisuke Harada & Tadasuke vs Ricky Marvin & El Hijo Del Pantera.

Korakuen was on fire during three matches tonight, the first of these was during this match which was said to be intense, although the difference in styles was evident.

WINNER: Ricky Marvin with the Boston Crab on Tadasuke (15 minutes and 5 seconds)

MATCH FOUR
GLOBAL JUNIOR TAG LEAGUE
YO-HEY & HAYATA vs The Backbreakers (Hajime Ohara & Hitoshi Kumano)

HAYATA has been in Hiroshima with Dove Pro assisting with the clean up efforts from the disaster up there. The dojo is said to be without power still.

Hajime Ohara's neck is not good, and it is unusual to see him with any form of taping (Ohara in about thirteen\fourteen years of wrestling, has only ever missed ring time once with injury and that was in October 2017 when he had bruised kidneys), despite the neck problems he took the Headache from HAYATA (the move almost knocked him out last time and he said that he had that white flash and everything spun), who saved YO-HEY from tapping out at the last moment.

WINNER: YO-HEY following the Headache by HAYATA on Hajime Ohara (12 minutes and 56 seconds)

MATCH FIVE
Takashi Sugiura, Masato Tanaka, Mohammed Yone & Quiet Storm vs Go Shiozaki, Kenoh, Atsushi Kotoge & Kaito Kiyomiya

"Two teams tore the house down" (Metal Noah)

Kenoh said he was looking forward to the match today, but only really for one opponent, Masato Tanaka. He got his wish, the crowd went crazy.
At the beginning of the match Takashi Sugiura shoved the belt in Go Shiozaki's face. Sugiura was later busted open by Shiozaki's chops.
The match, the vets vs the super new generation army, was said to be very exciting and intense. It was the second match of the evening to burn Korakuen Hall with Go Shiozaki and Takashi Sugiura locking up at the start.

Atsushi Kotoge was on form today, although without the cape. During the days off that Noah had between events, he announced that he was learning to fly. I don't mean he was trying to earn his wings, he said he was trying to learn how to fly through the air...

It came down to Kaito Kiyomiya fighting valiantly against the Dangan Yankees (Takashi Sugiura & Masato Tanaka), but in the end he was overwhelmed.

WINNER: Masato Tanaka with the Sliding D on Kaito Kiyomiya (15 minutes and 38 seconds)

MATCH SIX
GLOBAL JUNIOR TAG LEAGUE
Hi69 & Minoru Tanaka vs Ikuto Hidaka & Takuya Sugawara

The semi finals of Global Junior Tag League will be decided on the 31st, with the two winning teams meeting at "Departure" on the 5th August (which is not only Noah's 18th birthday, but also Hidaka's 46th), the boys from Zero-One have vowed to have victory on this day.

WINNER: Ikuto Hidaka with the Shinken Capture on Hi69 (16 minutes and 39 seconds)

MATCH SEVEN
GHC HEAVYWEIGHT TAG CHAMPIONSHIP
The Aggression (Katsuhiko Nakajima & Masa Kitamiya) vs Naomichi Marufuji & Akitoshi Saito

"The best weapon you have is not a tool, but a foot"

Akitoshi Saito (after a long time) debuted new ring wear, it was nothing too flashy, only new pants and a silver jacket. Katsuhiko Nakajima also debuted new clothing by wearing dark black trunks (probably to match the darkness of his soul). The vets came out to support Naomichi Marufuji and Akitoshi Saito.
This was the third match to burn down Korakuen Hall, with the audience on fire.

The Aggression played the heels to the hilt, the crowd booing them when they attacked their opponents with chairs (Nakajima also using a wooden plank), "Katsuhiko is smiling again today" as he attacked Marufuji's knee. Marufuji dived over the top rope on to his opponents. It is unusual these days to see him do that as he is now approaching forty, he doesn't usually use high flying moves anymore and concentrates more on ground psychological attacks. Then outside the ring, he and Nakajima got into a fight so intense it was commented that it was like the typhoon had come inside.
At this point the crowd had gone insane.

Akitoshi Saito won over Masa Kitamiya (he had escaped from the Prison Lock earlier) with the Deathbrand, and thus he and Marufuji became the 45th GHC Heavyweight Tag Champions. The last time Akitoshi Saito was tag team champion was with Go Shiozaki in 2012, Marufuji was last champion with Maybach Taniguchi in 2017. Many people remembered the days of when Saito teamed with Bison Smith (they were GHC tag champions) and became quite nostalgic, not only because of Bison Smith, but also because it co-incided with the awful tragedy with Misawa in Hiroshima. Akitoshi Saito is one man who deserves a belt, he has been through hell.

Afterwards Saito got on the microphone:

Saito: We have captured the belt! Thank you for coming out today despite the Typhoon! This is my souls message to Noah! Our generation will continue to move forward!
Marufuji said something that didn't translate too well, but its like saying the bigger and the thicker the wall, we will still break through, afterward he said:

Marufuji: Who is my partner!*
Venue: Saito-san!

Afterwards the vets all got together (with Mohammed Yone pulling the Disco Fever pose) for a commemorative picture.
The Veteran Army now hold all the Heavyweight belts. No challengers came forward today.

WINNER: Akitoshi Saito with the Deathbrand on Masa Kitamiya (25 minutes and 21 seconds)

Attendance: 935 people

"Korakuen Hall burned"
After the event there were said to be a lot of smiling and everyone left happy as the Noah wrestlers handed out confectionary supplied by their longterm sponsors, "The Leave".

*He had been saying this during post match promos with Saito answering "Saito-san", so naturally the crowd knew how to answer.
