"The wonder 49 year old" is making a beeline towards the champion.

Noah held a conference on the 7th May in Tokyo, with Takashi Sugiura (48) who won the final match of "Global Tag League" (4th May, Korakuen Hall).
It was announced on June 9th that he would challenge the GHC Heavyweight Champion, Kaito Kiyomiya (22) at Korakuen Hall. Additionally, Sugiura will team with KAZMA SAKAMOTO (36) at the Edion Arena 2nd Stadium, Osaka on the 13th to challenge the GHC Heavyweight tag champions Go Shiozaki (37) and Katsuhiko Nakajima (31). Both events will be held on the "Mitsuharu Misawa Memorial Night."

Takashi Sugiura showed a masterpiece of toughness in the league match to defeat Shiozaki's team and win. In the official match against Kaito Kiyomiya (April 17th, Korakuen), he showed great success in choking out Kiyomiya.
He will celebrate his 49th birthday on the 31st, and "Two title matches in five days is a wrestlers reward. However, I think it will be from now on that I start to get into my stride".
For the young champion, Kiyomiya, whose fourth defense battle this will be, he sent a message, "You are growing, but how long can you build a relationship of trust with the fans?"
He will take the leading role in the Mitsuharu Misawa memorial, whose ten year memorial this year will be. Sugiura said with a quiet countenance, "I am honored to challenge at such a special tournament. Thanks to Misawa, I have been able to keep on wrestling."

Sugiura has come to the forefront of the newborn Noah, and says "I want the young generation to be aware of the fact that I am 49, and involved in the championships"

In addition, the official schedule of "Global Junior Tag League" (which will open at Korakuen Hall on the 28th) has also been decided.
Yoshinari Ogawa & Kotaro Suzuki, Minoru Tanaka & Hi69, Daisuke Harada & Tadasuke, YO-HEY & HAYATA, Hajime Ohara & NOSAWA Rongai, Hitoshi Kumano & Chris Ridgeway & Junta Miyawaki and Seiya Morohashi will participate in the official matches until the June 9th Korakuen tournament, when the two winning teams will meet in the championship match in Osaka on the 13th.
