"OTAKU History" ~ Hajime Ohara at MEGARAGE, Kawasaki (26th February 2020)

Note: Otaku basically means "nerd", "geek" etc.

Hajime Ohara, Kawasaki's pride and Noah's treasure, made another appearance at the sports\arcade bar in Kawasaki today. Noah have a relationship with the venue as in summer 2019 they had AXIZ, The Sugiura Army, Naomichi Marufuji, Kaito Kiyomiya, and most memorably RATELS (Tadasuke and YO-HEY had been drinking, Daisuke Harada spoke to the YouTube video of his brother as he thought it was live, and HAYATA kept vanishing only to be forced to sit down and told off by YO-HEY at the end) appeared. The guest before Hajime Ohara was Go Shiozaki, who talked about Kamen Rider.
Hajime Ohara, a man who loves to talk, talked very little about wrestling, and talked mainly about computer games, anime and Kamen Rider. He did however mention Noah's event in Kawasaki in August.

So, what did we discover about Hajime Ohara?

He grew up playing Tetris, PAC-MAN, Puzzle Bobble, Final Fantasy, Donkey Kong Country, Final Fight., Super Mario. The list goes on, Ohara played everything from golf to wrestling games, puzzles, platforms, fantasy, cooking, adventure, beat em ups and anything and everything in between.
He owned games consoles like Sega Saturn, Playstation, Super Nintendo etc. He said he was often hospitalized as a child (he says he was physically weak, and had been in hospital on and off since a toddler of only four) and his biggest distraction during those times was his GameBoy.

Ohara says that his parents were called into his school as he used to play Kamen Rider with another boy, and constantly end up getting into a fight. His teacher said that since he was fighting each day, he should consider being a pro-wrestler.

Ohara said he has two textbooks, which he calls his "Pro Wrestling textbooks", now may you think that someone as studious as Ohara might be referring to a book on The Four Pillars, Bruiser Brody or Giant Baba. No. Ohara's wrestling textbooks are "Sailor Moon" (60%) and "DRAGON QUEST: Dai's Great Adventure" (40%). He says that if you want to understand Pro-Wrestling, then you should read "Dai's Great Adventure".

As well as talking about Kamen Rider, Ohara also talked about Sailor Moon. He said that the characters in "Sailor Moon S" are just like in Pro Wrestling, and during his time in Hustle he used the theme music of Sailor Neptune.

During the Super Violent Army era he used to sing a song when they went out for karaoke which was the opening song of an anime that he likes called "Marmalade Boy", the title of the song translates as something like "I want to see you smile". It's kind of ironic when you consider his tag partner was Kenoh (although Kenoh wasn't as cross as he is now when he was a junior, although he did still have a scowl and yelled loudly from time to time).

At the end of the event he said that he was graduating High School and going on to college (I believe he wants to study physiotherapy), and he was given a bouquet of flowers and what is known in Japan as an "Attendance Book". This is basically a log book that lists a students behavior during their school life i.e. it will record their attendance (what time they arrive and what time they leave), sick days, absences, reprimands, suspensions etc. The books are like an academic record of conduct, and may well be referred to when you are trying to find a job.

Link to video of appearance (Coetani) - please subscribe to the channel as no doubt more Noah wrestlers will appear on the show in the future (also Dirty Andy Dalton, who was in Noah in 2016 and wrestled Ohara, appears in the chat today)

  1. Absolutely fascinating. I really love articles like this and without your great site, I would never be able to read or learn this information. It's really cool too. Ohara doesn't seem to me like someone who had ever been weak, so to learn he was so sick as a child, I think it says alot about his ability to perservere and also to overcome obstacles. It is no wonder he is such a strong fighter.
