(NOAH) Event Recap ~ Global Tag League, Episode 2 (Tuesday, April 7th 2020)

Today in Global Tag League, Kongoh faced their enemies, The Sugiura Army in two seperate matches. If you have a subscription to DDT Universe, you can watch it here. If you would like to subscribe the first month is free, and afterwards it is only 900 yen per month.

It looks as for each episode, Noah is going to have a special guest commentator, yesterday it was Mohammed Yone, today it was Hajime Ohara.

MATCH ONE
BLOCK A
Kongoh vs The Sugiura Army International
(Kenoh & Masa Kitamiya vs Renee Dupre & El Hijo De Dr Wagner Jnr)

Rene Dupre made his in ring Noah debut today, which started with an entry pose with El Hijo De Dr Wagner Jnr.

Kongoh came stalking out, Kenoh with the habitual scowl (earlier in the day he had complained about Noah being broadcast through DDT and not its own channel, with the DDT hashtag everywhere), while Masa Kitamiya looked bigger than ever. Kitamiya was going to need all his size, something which was going to be detrimental to Kenoh, especially against Dupre. After Kitamiya and El Hijo De Dr Wagner Jnr had knocked each other about the ring, Kenoh and Dupre were tagged in. Dupre is 6'2 and Kenoh 5'7, so Dupre used his height to make Kenoh stretch up to reach his hand for a lock up, and naturally Kenoh couldn't reach. Kenoh was not going to dignify this by standing on his tiptoes, so he just kicked him instead. What followed was Dupre throwing Kenoh about the ring with punches, chops and short sharp jabs.

Brutal match in which Kenoh was at a disadvantage as he doesn't have the body mass of the others, and Dupre made a good first showing (lets see him against Marufuji), with The Sugiura Army working well in tandem.

WINNERS: Rene Dupre with a Piledriver on Masa Kitamiya (14 minutes, 55 seconds)

MATCH TWO
BLOCK B
The Sugiura Army vs MUSCLE TOUGHNESS
(Takashi Sugiura & Hideki "Shrek" Sekine vs Daisuke Sekimoto & Yoshiki Inamura)

This match was just four guys, four monsters, punching, kicking, and slamming each other. This was a proper hoss fight, complete with loud roaring at each other.

MUSCLE TOUGHNESS came out to Sekimoto's theme, and then the scariest music in pro wrestling started, as one of the scariest teams in pro wrestling came out, Sekine had a wild look in his eyes.

Yoshiki Inamura started the match against Sekine, the two of them slamming into each other as they bounced off the ropes. This happened several times and at top speed, and much to Inamura's credit, although he did not knock down Sekine, he was not knocked down by him. Then they turned to scoop slamming each other, and both got up immediately afterwards. Throughout the whole match Inamura would make a good showing against the much older and experienced veteran wrestlers, Sugiura and Sekine, I think Big Japan was very good experience for him, and I think the two wins he had in the league were a great morale boost. Before the match Sekine had made the comment that he was looking forward to facing Sekimoto, implying that he didn't know who Inamura was. He might not have known who Inamura was before, but he certainly knew it by the end of the match.

Daisuke Sekimoto and Takashi Sugiura fought like two bears, with Daisuke Sekimoto lifting Sekine onto his shoulders when their turn came round, which lead to a breathy expression from Ohara, "amazing...".  Later in the match Sekimoto would also grab the hair of Sekine and headbutt him, it was not quite on crazy Kotoge levels, but the sound echoed around the empty venue.

The match wound up with Inamura and Sugiura having a stiff punch exchange, which culminated with Sugiura hitting the Olympic Slam on Inamura for the win. The night had not been a good one for Kongoh.

WINNER: Takashi Sugiura with the Olympic Slam on Yoshiki Inamura (19 minutes, 59 seconds)

After the match, Sugiura and Sekine addressed the viewers. Sekine saying their goal is to win it all, and Sugiura saying that as long as there is a ring Noah will fight, and despite there being no crowd, he can feel the intensity of the people watching at home and to keep sending it.

Episode 3 of Global Tag League will return on Friday 10th at 8pm JST via DDT Universe.
