On February 3rd, Noah's GHC National Champion, Kenoh, was in a surprising place. He was at the Maihama's Disney Resort Line, "Bayside Train Station", which is lined with high class hotels at the Tokyo Disney Resort in Urayasu City, Chiba Prefecture. He explained, "Do you know what happened here in the past? It was the Tokyo Bay NK Hall".
Tokyo Bay NK Hall was a huge arena that opened in 1988. This was the venue that Pancrase launched at on September 21st, 1993.
Masakatsu Funaki, who was both the Ace and the founding member of Pancrase, has challenged Kenoh for the GHC National Championship at Noah's 12th February Nippon Budokan event. In the tag match of the of 31st January at Korakuen Hall, which was the only pre-match, Kenoh was overwhelmed by his strikes and his submission techniques, and finally fainted from the rear-naked-sleeper from the Hybrid Blaster.
After the match, Funaki said, "If he stays like he was today, he will lose. I don't care".
Kenoh lent on the shoulder of one of the seconds, and left with no comment. He did later look back on the humiliating defeat and said however as he bit his lips, "This is a different way of being bought down. This was the first time for me to be made to feel like this".
"Twenty eight years ago, Masakatsu Funaki launched Pancrase here at Tokyo Bay NK Hall, aiming to be the strongest. When I came here, I felt something about the title match. The state of emergency has also been extended, and the event must end early. I will defeat Masakatsu Funaki in a second".
In the past, Pancrase in their first five matches, had a total time of only 13 minutes and 5 seconds, and their catchphrase became, "Instant defeat".
At the site of the Tokyo Bay NK Hall with the sea breeze blowing in, Kenoh vowed to be successful in his fifth defense at the Budokan on the 12th February.
