"Listening to Pro Wrestlers" is encounters with childhood episodes and current matches, and this time it is Yasutaka Yano (20) of Pro Wrestling Noah.
Yano made his pro wrestling debut in October of last year, the first trainee for the first time in two years since Kinya Okada (28) in 2018. He first dreamed of being a pro wrestler when he was in elementary school, and stuck to his ambition. We hear about the understanding from hos family, the road to his debut, and the enthusiasm for his first victory.

In October of last year, Yano made his long awaited debut match, and was completely defeated by Okada in just five minutes. Yano entered with a big applause from the audience. With a small body of 166cm and 74 kg, he decided on a flying body attack, but was hit by Okada's relentless elbow drop and middle kick, and he was subdued in the ring. Keenly aware of the difference in power, he said "I hadn't been able to utilize the ring well by swinging on the ropes or using the corners."
However, his parents congratulated him, saying "We really didn't expect it to come true. Congratulations." His older brother had also come to watch.

Yano had a dream of becoming a pro wrestler when he was in elementary school. He and a friend played games and watched videos, and tried out the techniques. He was small but strong, and recalled, "I was a strong arm wrestler". He was six years old when he told his parents he wanted to be a wrestler, but they didn't really understand. His mother told him that "This (dream) will change soon". To make his dream come true, he borrowed his brothers dumbbells and secretly trained. When he was in junior high school he joined the track and field club, and he also considered joining the wrestling club at a nearby high school at the same time, but his father, who was not very convinced, urged him to "build up his basic strength", and urged him to concentrate on building up his body.
Taking the first step towards his dream, Yano joined the wrestling club, leaving a track record of competing nationally. The normal path after this would be to go on to University or get a job, but he decided not to do this, as he felt it would be the wrong move. He took the test on March 19th before graduation, and if he failed there would be nothing after, but he passed in one go. Even then, he could not get a heartfelt blessing from his family who said, "You haven't made your debut yet."
After passing, he ate a lot and practiced to prepare for his induction.

He was confident, but after getting started he struggled with even two hours of basic practice a day. "Is it hopeless, even if I do this amount?"
Abs, bridges, squats...his confidence was shattered by more than double the amount during the entry test.
"Can I really continue?"
Not treated a newcomer, each day he went to the dojo, experiencing a muscle pain that he had never done before. When coming to Tokyo he found the lifestyle was different, he did not even know how to catch the train. He stopped eating and his weight dropped to 80 kilograms and then 60 in a few months. He was also homesick.
Still, he didn't leave. This was a dream he had been chasing since he was a child. During weight training in the dojo, he exercised with his seniors, and took away their technique to study.

One year and seven months after his induction, he finally stood in the ring as a pro wrestler. Some wrestlers will make their debut within a year, but according to Noah officials, "less than 10% will make their debut after entering". Yano said, "I was so happy that when I heard, I almost cried". It has been about eight years since he told his dream to his family, and it was the moment when it was finally understood. However, he has participated in more than 20 matches so far, and out of 12 singles has not won a single match so far. In addition, there has also been the Corona pandemic, and he has been unable to show his parents in Ehime his heroism. Yano wants them to see him victorious, and to transmit to them that this was not a halfhearted. This is his life, and he is living it in a way as to not regret it. He is also looking forward to making a triumphant return home.

For children who want to be wrestlers, he advises "Don't avoid doing it, no matter the techniques you have to take, in the end winning is the best part. It is important to control your body, and while I think you may get discouraged, but in the end you will smile."
The 20 year old rookie, who has wholeheartedly embraced this as his life, continues to stand in the ring towards his next dream of becoming the face of the juniors.

*Yasutaka Yano was born in Ehime Prefecture* on August 10th 2000* (Heisei 12*). In Junior High, he belonged to the Track & Field club, during his time at Imabari, he belonged to the wrestling club and participated generally at the 80 kilo class. He entered Noah on March 19th, and made his debut on 28th October 2020 against Kinya Okada. His target wrestler is Kotaro Suzuki.
His family consists of parents, two older brothers, two older sisters and a younger brother.

*He is another Shikoku boy, like Kenoh (although I doubt Yano uses the phrase "this fucking countryside" to describe his home)
*Ironically he was born on the day of Noah's first ever show.
*Japanese regnal year, i.e. the 12th year of the reign of Emperor Akihito)
