DragonGate's Ironman Masaaki Mochizuki (52) has announced a double recapture of both the belt and the champion. At Noah's Korakuen Hall event on the 10th, he will challenge Masakatsu Funaki (52) the GHC National Champion. On January 27th, he took the pin directly at Korakuen Hall, and won the right to challenge the champion who transferred from the M's alliance, to which he belongs, to the rebel unit Kongoh.

The first confrontation came in July 2016, when he faced Funaki in a tag match at DragonGate's Kobe event. It has been about five and a half years since he promised a singles match when the match finished. "A long match with Funaki isn't really an image. He won the Triple Crown (Heavyweight Championship) in about four minutes didn't he? So for example, I don't think I am going to have time to think about making customers excited."
Funaki defeated Kenoh in 3 minutes and 58 seconds and was crowned with the GHC National Championship. The synonym "Second Killing*" is alive.

Mochizuki said, "I also defeated Stalker Ichikawa in a second...but when it comes to Funaki, it will be quite difficult. Just last year Funaki taught me the Palm Strike technique before I fought Kenoh. I want to try it on the man himself." A quick win is in view.
Furthermore, regarding Funaki's entry into Kongoh Mochizuki analyzed, "Since his words and actions haven't changed at all, I wonder if it's purely because he wants to fight the M's alliance. The impression that I got when we fought was that nothing has changed, just the costume."

Transferring to unit in search of new opponents, the champion has also mentioned the name of a former same unit member*, but Mochizuki intends to block that aim in the first defense.
"I don't know if he has an image of a title match (with the former unit member), but I can't let it continue. If I win, please come back to the M's alliance. I want you and the belt to return."

*Martial arts term for an instantaneous defeat of an opponent
