We spoke with Jake Lee, who defeated Kaito Kiyomiya and became the new champion at the GHC Heavyweight Championship match held at the Yokohama Budokan on March 19th. How does it feel to hold the GHC belt in your hands, and how does he feel about Katsuhiko Nakajima, the first to challenge after the match?
Q: Needless to say you have become the GHC Heavyweight Champion. Please tell us about your current state of mind?
JAKE LEE: It's physically heavy enough, but it's a comfortable weight. I would like to say that it's the best, but this promotion (Noah) isn't competing for 1st or 2nd place in Japan, but because they're saying, "We're No 1", isn't everyone aiming for that? I want to keep this (the belt) in order to do what I say.
Q: What was the main reason you wanted to face the next challenger, Katsuhiko Nakajima?
JAKE LEE: Since taking part at the beginning, I have been talking about "Why?", but if course you wonder, right? But you can tell by looking at Nakajima. "skillful", "strong" and "scary". There is the strength of an old fashioned pro wrestler, and the skill and the strength of current professional wrestlers, and he embodies that at his age. I'm sure you have been watching for a long time. The technique is also the same, and I check the movement of the eyes and the movements of his shoulders. I wanna fight. What kind of wrestler will he be? Seeing and doing are completely different. When it comes to title matches, no wrestler wants to lose. More than that, what kind of history has Katsuhiko Nakajima made, and what kind of history will he walk in the future? Maybe this is the turning point, and it's the same for me. Maybe it's because I've seen it along. I think that such words will come out.
Q: Tadasuke and YO-HEY have joined GLG (Good Looking Guys), how do you feel about that?
JAKE LEE: Ah, the number of members are increasing, aren't they? There's no reason to reject guys who "want to enter" or "want to do things together" and the two are cool, right? Don't you think five people can use their strengths as weapons?
Q: What are the GLG's (Good Looking Guys) goals for Noah in the ring?
JAKE LEE: Anyone who sees it will think "cool", "enter", "I want to be like this". I think it would be great if we could produce something like that.
Q: How do you feel now that you have chosen Noah as your main battlefield?
JAKE LEE: Anxiety, tension, curiosity, and various thoughts are jumbled together. I'm just pretending to be arrogant. It's a technique for living. I'm not originally very strong, nor am I an extremely talented person. I don't have it by nature, so I have to think and devise it more than anyone else. I'm constantly asking myself, "Is it really okay for me to stay the way I am?"
Q: What do you think the match with Katsuhiko Nakajima will be like?
JAKE LEE: It ends in one shot, one blow. Suddenly, how the match goes doesn't matter. If you watch, you'll understand. It cannot be another wrestler.
Q: Finally, please give your comments to the challenger, Katsuhiko Nakajima.
JAKE LEE: Nice to meet you, Katsuhiko Nakajima. I want to learn, experience and know more about your history. See you in the ring.
Jake Lee, who became the new champion, will meet the "insane" Katsuhiko Nakajima in Sendai on April 16th. As you can see from Jake's own words, "It doesn't matter how the match goes, it ends in one blow". As you can see from his words, Katsuhiko Nakajima is considered to be quite dangerous. On the other hand, Katsuhiko Nakajima also said, "I'm Noah" and said, "I will teach you how Noah fights". On the 16th April, pay attention to the exciting match clad in madness for the GHC Heavyweight Championship in Sendai.
