(NOAH) EVENT RECAP: SUNNY VOYAGE 2023 (Friday November 17th, Light Cube Utsunomiya)

Today's event will be broadcast on WrestleUniverse from 18:00 JST on the 21st November. No part of it was streamed live today, but thanks to fans who attended, I have quite a bit of information. New fans came, as did old fans who do not know today's roster...and they were in for a wild night.  

MATCH ONE

TERRY YAKI, Alejandro & Ninja Mack vs Alpha Wolf, Xtreme Tiger & Hajime Ohara

Winner: Alejandro with the Air Bullet (fans called this the "Sky Twister Press" on X-Treme Tiger (10 minutes, 40 seconds)

MATCH TWO

Takashi Sugiura, Mohammed Yone, Super Crazy & Yu Owada vs Go Shiozaki, Stallion Rogers, Kai Fujimura and Taishi Ozawa

The seniors let the youngsters start against each other, with fans noticing that Mohammed Yone has had "afro maintenance" (this means that he has had his afro trimmed, except he doesn't call this having a haircut), and poor Yone got the machinegun chops. 

Winner: Stallion Rogers with Boston Crab on Yuu Owada (13 minutes, 15 seconds)

MATCH THREE

Naomichi Marufuji & El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jnr vs REAL (Saxon Huxley & Shuhei Taniguchi)

Naomichi Marufuji entered alongside El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jnr in a Wagner themed sugar skull mask, in his persona of "Dr Marufuji Jnr" who was last seen at New Year in 2019. In what was a wild match, Saxon Huxley tore the mask off of Dr Marufuji Jnr and then wore it himself. Marufuji started complaining to referee Shu Nishinaga that this was a blatant foul and therefore Huxley should be disqualified (this reminds me of a story from the indies, whereby someone said they were going to call the police!). Referee Nishinaga took no notice.

Winner: El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jnr with the Wagner Driver on Shuhei Taniguchi (11 minutes, 31 seconds)

Naomichi Marufuji later posted on social media that he had always loved El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jnr's mask as it was very similar to the colors of his own ring-wear, and told himself that one day if he ever got the chance, he would make a mask that matched. 

MATCH FOUR

Anthony Green vs Masa Kitamiya

Winner: Anthony Green with a sneak win on Masa Kitamiya (8 minutes, 41 seconds)

As Anthony held the belt up, Masa Kitamiya (who Anthony had sneak stolen the win from) grimaced. 

MATCH FIVE

STINGER (Daga & Yoshinari Ogawa) vs Shuji Kondo & Junta Miyawaki

Fans said that this was a classroom for Junta Miyawaki, as he was taught not only by Shuji Kondo, but also by his opponents. 

Winner: Daga with the Diablo Wings on Junta Miyawaki (13 minutes, 32 seconds)

After the match, Kondo bought down Daga with the King Kong lariat and stood over him holding the belt up.

MATCH SIX

GOOD LOOKING GUYS (Jake Lee, Jack Morris, LJ Cleary, YO-HEY & Tadasuke) vs Hi69, Atsushi Kotoge, Daiki Inaba, Ryohei Oiwa & Kaito Kiyomiya

Another wild match in which fans called Kaito Kiyomiya's team "The Kaito Army", and Jake Lee (who had pinched YO-HEY's phone to film the GLG unit backstage) went around complaining to the fans who were rooting for Daiki Inaba.

Winner: Jack Morris with the Tiger Driver on Hi69 (15 minutes, 46 seconds)

MATCH SEVEN

Kenoh & Dragon Bane vs Manabu Soya & HAYATA

Winner: Kenoh made Manabu Soya tap to the Kenoh Special (14 minutes, 46 seconds) 

Kenoh closed out the show and he told the fans how much he loved Utsunomiya, speaking of how he had driven out to watch a local basketball match, and then ate Gyoza afterwards, and there was nothing better in the world than that. Fans said they want to see more of HAYATA vs Dragon Bane.
