(NOAH) Event recap: SUNNY VOYAGE 2024 (Saturday February 3rd, Kasukabe Fureai Cube, Saitama)
Today's event will be streamed from 18:00 JST from the 7th February on WrestleUniverse. The last three matches were streamed live on Noah's Instragram. You might be able to view them on there for now, but I am unsure of how long they will remain there.
When fans arrived at the arena (on a crisp spring Setsubun), El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jnr and Go Shiozaki were on autographs. Shiozaki naturally was giggling every few seconds, while Wagner Jnr praised the Spanish phrases that fans had memorized for him. I think Kenoh, not a native speaker and someone who said that he doesn't have a natural ability for languages, has really given people the confidence to do this.
MATCH ONE
HAYATA & Eita vs Ninja Mack & Alejandro
Ninja Mack and Alejandro went inside the barriers to slap hands with the crowd. HAYATA and Eita did not.
WINNER: HAYATA with the 403 Impact on Ninja Mack (9 minutes, 57 seconds)
MATCH TWO
Naomichi Marufuji & Junta Miyawaki vs Takashi Sugiura & Ulka Sasaki
Fans noticed that Yoshinari Ogawa and Kaito Kiyomiya were seen watching the match (they commented that this was rare for Ogawa, as normally he watches the rookies, although I guess you can kind of call Ulka Sasaki this). Naturally, Ulka was given a bright red chest from Naomichi Marufuji, whose attack was described as "merciless". Marufuji was somewhat acrobatic, doing his handspring into a dropkick when Takashi Sugiura bounced him off the ropes.
WINNER: Ulka Sasaki with the Shining Triangle on Junta Miyawaki (13 minutes, 45 seconds)
Later, Sugi told Ulka that he would get used to having a red chest, his skin would thicken after time, and it would get easier. Ulka said, "It hurt a lot, but worked like hell" and that after the second shot, he felt as if he was going to break.
MATCH THREE
Atsushi Kotoge vs LJ Cleary
WINNER: LJ Cleary with the Cow Killing (9 minutes, 23 seconds)
MATCH FOUR
TEAM NOAH (Go Shiozaki, Mohammed Yone & Akitoshi Saito) vs REAL (Saxon Huxley, Timothy Thatcher & Shuhei Taniguchi)
REAL where lying in wait ready to pounce, with Shuhei Taniguchi having a huge grin on his face.
WINNER: Timothy Thatcher with the Fujiwara Armbar on Mohammed Yone (13 minutes, 32 seconds)
MATCH FIVE
Kenoh & Yu Owada vs El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jnr & Ryohei Oiwa
(Streamed live on Instagram)
Kenoh and El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jnr started off the match, with Wagner Jnr provoking Kenoh early on, and even managing to get out of the "Kenoh Special" in this last match before the title match.
Winner: Ryohei Oiwa with the German Suplex Hold on Yu Owada (12 minutes, 55 seconds)
After the match, Kenoh and El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jnr seemed to be having a brawl outside the ring, and at one point Wagner Jnr stole the belt.
Kenoh's comment afterwards was a growled, "CabrĂ³n".
MATCH SIX
STINGER (Daga & Yoshinari Ogawa) vs Kaito Kiyomiya & Hajime Ohara
Kaito Kiyomiya and Yoshinari Ogawa started the match, but they didn't get anymore interaction than they did, as Daga defeated Hajime Ohara in under three minutes.
WINNER: Daga with the Diablo Wings on Hajime Ohara (1 minute, 41 seconds)
Backstage Daga laughed and said he wasn't even sweating.
MATCH SEVEN
Good Looking Guys (Jake Lee, Jack Morris, Anthony Green, YO-HEY & Tadasuke) vs Manabu Soya, Masa Kitamiya, Daiki Inaba & Los Golpeadores (Dragon Bane & Alpha Wolf)
Typically wild match in which Los Golpeadores did a chest bump! However, their celebration was to be short lived.
WINNER: Anthony Green with M-58 on Alpha Wolf (19 minutes, 16 seconds)
"GLG is made up of three elements: Good times, Good vibes and Good looking" ~ Anthony Green
As GLG stood together to celebrate, Anthony Green slipped out of the ring, and then returned with a small boy who was clutching a GLG towel. The little boy got to pose with GLG (YO-HEY patting his head) and then he was hoisted up on to Anthony's shoulders, and he got to do a fist bump with them all. After the boy had been returned to his parents, Jake closed out the show praising Anthony for both the win and the fan interaction, and commenting that while there was a lot of things happening in Noah at the moment, it was GLG who had the most momentum. As the leader of the team he vowed he would further develop the unit, and once again take the helm of The Ark and steer Noah.
