On the 31st, it was announced that Go Shiozaki (42), the previous winner of Noah's single league, "N-1 VICTORY" (which starts on August 4st in Yokohama) would be absent due to a fracture of the second spinous process of the thoracic spine.
Shiozaki, who is aiming for his second victory, had been entered in Block A for the tournament, but Noah announced today that Shiozaki would miss all matches due to injury. Narihiro Takeda, the CyberFight director who oversees Noah, said on social media that they plan to nominate replacement wrestlers, "We will announce this as soon as the wrestlers who will participate in the league are decided, so please wait for a little while longer." However, even after the announcement of his absence, Shiozaki himself appealed for his intention to participate by saying on social media, "I'm sorry for causing you concern and inconvenience, but I'm going to compete no matter what." This has led to a stream of concerned comments from those involved* and fans, with comments such as "Please take care of yourself" and "Don't push yourself too hard."
Note about "those involved"
Mainly Atsushi Kotoge and HI69. Kotoge tactfully told Shiozaki that he should rest and come back when the doctor said so. Shiozaki refused to listen, so Kotoge tried appealing to him that he should do it for those who were concerned about him. Naomichi Marufuji pointed out that Shiozaki needed to listen to his body (which was something he himself had come to realize), while the final word went to Narihiro Takeda, who said that this was a doctor stop. As he said in an interview with Weekly Pro a few months back, what the doctor says, goes.
