(NOAH) Marufuji calls for co-operation with Sugiura
Tokyo Sports 30th October 2017
Noah's genius Naomichi Marufuji (38) suggested a joint resurrection with Takashi Sugiura (47) who returned from heart issues on the 29th October. Sugiura, who has been missing since June for treatment for atrial fibrillation, made his return for the first time in roughly four months at Korakuen Hall on the 28th. He proved he was back to full form and vowed to take back the GHC Heavyweight Championship.
Marufuji welcomed this return of this "essential person" more than anyone. In October of this year, Eddie Edwards (33) won the GHC Championship on the Noah mat, and the situation has changed a lot.
(Note: this part is hard to translate, but Marufuji is basically saying that he knows that Sugiura will fight anyone and does he really need to work with KENOH)
He called for Sugiura to fight.
In the return battle he teamed with Kenoh, with whom he had been working before his absence, he will be working with him a lot during the series. Marufuji complains that this should be stopped at once, "Relative to me is a comfortable term, but it will be necessary to reorganise things if we are driven by the younger ones. On the contrary, are Marufuji and Sugiura are good for Noah? I would like to ask the younger athletes". Due to the rise of the younger generation in Noah, it is believed that a partnership with Sugiura would be an option, since he too has not had the tag belts since March 2013.
There is evidence when you look back that the league encourages the emergence of the new generation. Marufuji tells Sugiura, "I want you to branch out".
