(Noah) Takeshi Morishima's blog - October 2009.

Morishima starts off October by saying that it is Osaka tomorrow (those who are travelling by the Noah bus, meet at the office headquarters and it will go from there). He has mail ordered some "Yonezawa Beef", but "because I am lonely because I live alone"* he is going to share it with the dojo.

(Guess who tore into it)

Takashi Sugiura gave Morishima a ride home from the dojo...in the manner that a dad looks when his kid hasn't been where they were meant to be and has turned up late.

(Sugiura seemed to spend most of his time eating)

(Marufuji eats Ramen for breakfast while on tour)

Noah arrived in Osaka on the 2nd October, Morishima and the other two directors (Sugiura and Marufuji) went out to eat, Morishima commenting "Osaka! The best!".

While in Osaka, Morishima did various activities (other than eating the place dry with Marufuji and Sugiura), one of these was visiting a judo dojo and watching the children train (he himself was a judoka before he became a wrestler).
Back at home in Tokyo he does some shopping and remarks about a picture on his wall.

This is his debut which took place at The Budokan. He doesn't remember too much about it as he was nervous at the time. He also has a picture of himself when he was in sixth grade.

"It seems better than staying at home without doing anything"

Morishima is someone who has an intense need to be busy and to be useful, he doesn't like idleness, and so he mentions that he currently is working as a helper in a nursing home for the elderly. He does allow himself some relaxation however, as he mentions he likes watching the drama channel on TV, and he appeared to also enjoy doing a lot of cooking and posting semi recipes on his blog.

(Takeshi Morishima, Takashi Sugiura and Naomichi Marufuji in happier times in 2009. Morishima and Marufuji had grown up together, Sugiura, older than them by eight years, had watched them grow up)

He also had to renew his drivers licence, but being larger than your average Japanese, he found he could not sit in the chair for the examination. It was too small for him.

Morishima turned 31st on October 14th, and naturally a lot of gifts were given to him at the venue. He also went out for celebratory drinks with his fellow directors (as Kenoh said, they had been very close once upon a time). Morishima talks about "opportunities to drink more and sing karaoke more often". He finds that singing reduces stress (and a "heavy" singer is just right)

Sendai in October was cold (he says Tokyo is warmer), but nevertheless he went to the gym dressed in t-shirt and sandals and was told that his appearance was "out of season". Unsurprisingly, Taijii Ishimori was at the gym when he arrived.

Maybach Taniguchi turned 33 in October. Morishima's way to congratulate him was by photographing him as soon as he had stepped out of the shower.

By October 2009, Morishima had been installed as an executive. He said he was sure he would get used to wearing a suit eventually.

Other

  • Morishima photographed Taiji Ishimori at the urinal
  • Morishima is partial to McDonalds (and hamburgers in particular)
  • Morishima mentions appearing in SEM
  • On the way home from Sapporo he called in at a chocolate factory for a tour
  • Morishima said he likes to watch sport, from baseball to soccer, he enjoys what he calls the "human drama".
  • "My job has no answer. To each person, the values of wrestling are different!"
  • Morishima ate a lot of garlic, and so often complained his breath smelt, especially in the mornings
  • Unsurprisingly the rooms the executives get are luxurious, Morishima's had a massage chair (his choice of reading was a book on Stan Hansen)
  • One gym he visited were selling walnut and maple bagels in reception, there was also a picture of the British Bulldog on the wall.
  • From what I can tell any vaccinations needed are given before title matches (this is because the most blood is going to be shed)

*I don't like to talk about personal lives of wrestlers as it is none of my business, but I don't think Morishima has ever married. It appears he has a small family, his mother has passed, he doesn't mention his father (although to say he was from Niigata), he may have at least one sibling and in 2009 one of his grandmothers remained alive (she was originally a nurse) and his grandfather a fisherman, so he does appear kind of lonely at times.
