On the 14th, GHC Junior Tag Champion, Kotaro Suzuki (40) was keen to fight with Noah's genius, Naomichi Marufuji (39).
Along with tag partner Yoshinari Ogawa (52), he won Global Junior Tag League at the memorial event (13th June). Despite being immersed in the afterglow, the details of Global Junior League (starts on the 27th at Korakuen Hall) were announced.
"There is no time to rest. The prodigal son has returned, and we were able to win on the green mat (note, limited to the memorial tournaments) on Misawa's anniversary. I think there are still more things to do."
Kotaro was Noah's firstborn, debuting in December 2001. He left the company in December 2012, and this is the first time in seven years that he has been part of a memorial event. Marufuji, who is younger, is the senior pupil, their first singles match being about seventeen years ago. Kotaro also spoke of him when he wrestled for the GHC Junior championship in about eight years in October 2018, but the match never happened due to Marufuji pulling out with injury.
"The last time we fought was one a half years after my debut. Marufuji, we can fight beyond weight class and belts now. This is a wish from a younger pupil to an older pupil. I want to do it before either of us gets too battered. But, if you put your name to it and get injured again, its bad luck so I will be discreet in the appeal (laughs)."
If it comes to pass, this will be the best card to move forward ten years after their masters death after "first of all, winning the league", and one of the most talented juniors in the world of the Japanese mat, will have a new match.
