(NOAH) AXIZ at MEGARAGE

3rd July 2019
MEGARAGE, Kawasaki

On the 3rd July, AXIZ appeared at MEGARAGE Arcade Bar to do a Q&A session promoting Noah's 27TH July Kawasaki Kultz show, which is fast turning into an annual major event for them.
Naomichi Marufuji will be the guest on the 10th July, ans RATELS on the 17th.

Prior to the event, Noah had announced that Go Shiozaki was suffering a knee injury and so would miss the 6th and the 12th July. Fortunately, the injury doesn't seem to be serious, and he won't need to have surgery or miss any length of time. He seemed well enough, eating and drinking his way around the venue prior to the event starting.

"Everybody make some noise"

AXIZ come out to their theme, and holding the GHC Heavyweight Tag belts, they do their famous "lean" pose twice for the audience, before sitting down. Go Shiozaki a little stiffly because of his knee. They wave to the camera when it is announced that the event is being broadcast on YouTube. Soon after sitting down (and the microphones being adjusted), they are served their themed drinks. I'm not exactly sure what is in them, but they are themed to their ring colors - so Shiozaki's was black, gold and purple and Nakajima's was black and gold. Nakajima was later bought a mug of beer. Go Shiozaki is not drinking as he is injured, but later he is bought a sandwich.
There was a toast to the belts, and then a bio was read out for each individual wrestler. Then follows a conversation on their debuts, ring attire, Go Shiozaki's overseas excursion and the team with Nakajima. Go Shiozaki, known for giggling easily when on camera (and often breaking down into hysterics), lasts sixteen minutes before he starts.
Katsuhiko Nakajima does most of the talking, and it is interesting to note the similarity in their accents, both being southern boys from Kyushu. Katsuhiko Nakajima comes from the north coast, while Go Shiozaki comes from further down south, Kumamoto. On their subject of their team, they say they want to make it the "number one team in Puro", and after winning the tag championships, they apparently went to Taco Bell (Go Shiozaki it seems has a fondness for American food). They differ in their body language too, Shiozaki tends to gesticulate, while Nakajima is a lot less animated.

Then there came the rapid fire question round to which they could only answer "Yes" or "No". Nakajima, said "no"!

1. Do you have a favorite match?
There is a deliberation as they both think about it, but they both say "yes".

2. Dogs or cats?
Go Shiozaki (who has six cats and about two dogs) makes a long "uuuhhing" sounds, but they both seem to be cat people primarily.

3. Fish or meat?
They like both.

4. Do you have a sweet tooth (rough as the question doesn't really translate well into English as it kind of means do you like sweet things and alcohol, and even that is a rough translation)
They both said yes (with Shiozaki playfully intimating that this was a dangerous thing).

5. Do you have a hero?
Shiozaki said he did, Nakajima said he didn't.

6. Do you have a secret about your tag partner?
Both have no secrets about the other (although I imagine that Nakajima has some stories to tell about Shiozaki calling him when drunk)

7. Do you like children?
Happily, yes.

8. The question doesn't really translate well, but I think it basically asks if they speak to each other in their regional dialect (or else, do they get along?)
In either case, Shiozaki thinks they do, but Nakajima disagrees!

9. Do you want to wrestle anyone in particular?
Nope. They don't.

10. Do you like your tag partner?
Yes, they get on pretty well. Right from the day they first met at the Tokyo Dome when they were seconding their teachers, Kenta Kobashi and Kensuke Sasaki for their epic match against each other in July 2005, only a few months after both had debuted.

Naturally, people wanted to hear more about their pets.
As mentioned earlier, Go Shiozaki has six cats and (I think) two dogs. He admitted he had an allergy, which caused surprise. He also said that each cat has a packet of cat food each. Nakajima is luckier, he has goldfish which have a sprinkling of seaweed flakes. Other topics covered included Yakitori (Nakajima is a big lover of it and loves the sauce especially), and they both like Dragonball.

Then comes another three questions. This is not a quick fire round, but rather some questions that they can talk about and deliberate on.

1. What does your pose mean?
Basically, Shiozaki lent on Nakajima for ease after a match, and it just caught on.

2. What does your hand pose mean?
It is a form of Go Shiozaki's hand pose (which Nakajima teases him about), it is kind of meant to be like firing a gun or a pistol.

3. Why did you choose the name "AXIZ"
It means that they are at the center of everything (i.e. an "Axis"). They changed the last letter to "Z", but it doesn't really mean anything.

4. Question doesn't translate.

The show ends with applause for AXIZ, but the talk goes on for a few minutes more. They discuss the merchandise, the upcoming shows, the Go Shiozaki vs Hideki Suzuki match, the title matches (GHC Heavyweight Tag and GHC Heavyweight), Nakajima gives an evil smile when Kaito Kiyomiya (who everyone calls "Kaito" and not "Kiyomiya-san" as they are his seniors), and says "it is going to be bad".
