For a 60th birthday celebration, Keiji Mutoh (58), the pro wrestling master who has achieved the "Grand Slam" of the singles and the tag team championships of the three major promotions, has set an unexpected target for his next goal.

At Noah's Yokohama event on the 13th, alongside Naomichi Marufuji, he took the GHC tag Championship and is eager to take more belts as he draws up plans for 2022, which will see his 60th birthday. At the event in Yokohama, Mutoh had a "Genius Tag" at the Yokohama Budokan against the tag champions Kaito Kiyomiya and Masa Kitamiya. Mutoh himself sunk Kitamiya with the Shining Wizard and took his first tag championship. With this he has won the single belts and the tag belts of the three major promotions (New Japan, All Japan and Noah), which makes him the second person ever since Yoshihiro Takayama. He should be praised that he has won the championships after belonging to three promotions separately against Takayama, who achieved this as a freelancer.

2021 was a fulfilling year for the 58 year old. He defeated Go Shiozaki in February and took the GHC Heavyweight championship. Furthermore, with the acquisition of the tag title it has been a year of leaving results, rather than than declining them. Mutoh explained his motive for this emphasizing that it is thanks to the younger generation targeting him, "To be honest, I am glad that the young guys pay attention to me, but if I were to be ignored and ostracized then that is what wrestling is for". Added to this then next year, "In that sense, if I didn't return that feeling with attitude, it is going to be disrespectful. If possible, I would like to make history with the young Noah wrestlers, one by one".
As a member of Noah, he naturally wants to contribute to the further development of the promotion.

On the other hand, it is a fact that cannot be denied, that he has taken two belts at the age of 58, and his personal desire for a belt is increasing. Mutoh smiled when he pointed out that he was more than likely to be celebrating his 59th birthday on the 23rd December with a belt.

"It's hard. I'm 59 year old soon. Next is my turning point, my 60th birthday. If this goes on then I can welcome being 59 years old with a belt, so my 60th birthday...a red kimono jacket...hey, there is a red belt right? That guy Kenoh. Do I aim for that at the fork in the road at 60 years old? That suits me."

Right now, he is saying that he will wear the GHC National that is being held by Kenoh as of December 23rd next year when he reaches his 60th birthday. "The clock may be ticking, but I can resist that even just a little bit".

The amazing 58 year old old continues to push forward at the forefront of the fight.
