GHC National Champion, Masakatsu Funaki (53) showed his determination to inherit the policy of "Pro Wrestling Master" Keiji Mutoh (59) who will retire at Noah's Tokyo Dome Event on February 21st next year.

In the "2nd Keiji Mutoh Retirement Road" (25th September, Dolphins Arena, Aichi) he will team up with Katsuhiko Nakajima and clash with the unique tag team of Mutoh and "The Beast" Kazuyuki Fujita. Mutoh and he entered New Japan at the same time in 1984. Funaki, who was 15 years old, looked up to Mutoh who was older than him, like an older brother. He revealed his thoughts on Mutoh's retirement saying, "Mutoh said "I quit" after three days of joining, and if you didn't like it even a little bit, quit. Because there was an air that he might go to a different job, I never thought he would be in pro wrestling this long."

The two were crowned the World Tag Team Champions in 2010 during the All Japan Pro Wrestling era. Regarding the excellent tag with Mutoh, he looked back saying, "It was easy for me because he immediately came to the ring taking turns to fight." In addition, he is a "comrade" who he mobilized together with in "W-1! which was founded by Mutoh. For that reason, he intends to inherit Mutoh's policy. "Mutoh-san always found meaning in every match and said, "It is important to sweat as hard as you can." Even if I am fighting against the same opponent, I always think about what kind of situation the match will be, and I never have a match that is the same. That is why I fight matches so that I don't end up in the same situation". However, he will show no mercy in the final battle in Nagoya. "Even if it is Mutoh-san, I don't want to be beaten by someone who is retiring." He clenched his fists and added, "I don't want to be sentimental just because he is retiring, so I will do my best to become a heel. Nakajima and I want to kick (Mutoh) mercilessly to the point of disgust". Send him off with a "parting gift kick"

It will be a battle to watch as to who will win the synchronous showdown.
