Martial artist Akira Maeda (63) talked about Keiji Mutoh on his official YouTube channel on the 22nd. He talked about Keiji Mutoh (59), who announced his retirement next spring.

Maeda said he thought Mutoh would soon retire when he thought about Mutoh's age, saying "He had two artificial joints in his knees, and was able to progress smoothly through rehabilitation, but I think it was really impossible. The human body is mysterious, when you injure your knees, your balance becomes distorted by protecting your knees, and you end up injuring your lower back and hip joints."

Maeda hailed Mutoh as a genius in American wrestling. He said that if he had finished his career in America, he would have become a man who created an era. "I think Mutoh would have truly created an era if he had stayed in America instead of Japan. I wanted him to do his best there, and I wanted to see him doing well in America". He spoke on wanting to see Mutoh active in the United States, "Mutoh mastered American wrestling perfectly and did it in Japan, but there was no opponent for him. He has always been a one-man show." Speaking of how there was no opponent for Mutoh, who had mastered American Pro Wrestling, and Mutoh being the owner of All Japan, but the situation did not change, he continued "Mutoh isn't the unsung hero type, so I felt sorry for him." In addition, Maeda laughed and revealed a memorable episode of when he kicked him in the face during his active career, he was stared at with an unpleasant look. Of his impression of Mutoh he said, "Mutoh is a person who I don't really know if he has an ambition or not." Finally, he sent a message to Mutoh on his retirement, "I want you to heal your body properly and take care of yourself, so that you don't end up in a wheelchair".
