(NOAH) EVENT RECAP: SUNNY VOYAGE 2023 (Saitama Kasukabe Fureai Cube, Sunday September 10th)

Jake Lee was on autographs/pictures and fans did the arm bump with him that he usually does with Jack Morris. Kenoh was also on autographs, signing them in his usual cross manner, but not because he's irritated with the fans, but this usually means that he's angry about something in the ring. I'm not sure why even Maybach Taniguchi's Sasumata made an appearance, but there it was, standing against the wall of the merchandise stand at the end of the show...

Today's event was not streamed (not even a live stream on Instagram), so I have more information on some matches than others. I am of course grateful to the fans who live posted, and credit is given at the end. Today's event can be viewed on WrestleUniverse from 18:00 JST on the 13th September.

MATCH ONE

Taishi Ozawa vs Yu Owada

Was said to be a great opener

Winner: Taishi Ozawa with a missile kick (5 minutes, 27 seconds)

MATCH TWO

REAL (Saxon Huxley, Timothy Thatcher & Shuhei Taniguchi) vs Good Looking Guys (Jack Morris, Anthony Green & Tadasuke)

The scrum stand off between the two teams at the start with Tadasuke facing off against Shuhei Taniguchi, with Timothy Thatcher pacing around on the apron behind them. Unfortunately for Tadasuke, he was the one who got the "Tani Bomb" with Saxon Huxley throwing Taniguchi on to him.

Winner: Timothy Thatcher defeats Anthony Green with the Fujiwara Armbar (11 minutes, 25 seconds)

The champions celebrated in the usual style, yelling and shoving each other. Huxley shoved Taniguchi so hard that he almost fell out of the ring! Things were not great for the challengers, especially Anthony Green, as he's been defeated by REAL twice in the pre-matches. Once by Saxon Huxley, and now by Timothy Thatcher. 

MATCH THREE

Naomichi Marufuji & Junta Miyawaki vs Masa Kitamiya & Mohammed Yone

On entering the ring, Junta Miyawaki modestly put his towel on the ropes, but it fell off when Naomichi Marufuji entered the ring. One of the seconds went to replace it, but Marufuji picked it up and held it up.

Winner: Masa Kitamiya defeated Junta Miyawaki with the Prison Lock (11 minutes, 14 seconds)

MATCH FOUR

Katsuhiko Nakajima, HAYATA & Eita vs Daiki Inaba, Atsushi Kotoge & Kai Fujimura

Eita naturally thinks that he and Katsuhiko Nakajima are friends, but Nakajima declined his offers, and stared stonily when Eita offered a handshake. HAYATA was apparently trying not to laugh. I think both were trying not to when watching Eita later who (I think) went for one of his successive pins, which didn't get the win however. Later, Eita got caught in the match by an accidental kick by Nakajima when Eita was holding Inaba, and left with an ice pack to his face. 

Winner: Katsuhiko Nakajima with the Vertical Spike on Kai Fujimura (12 minutes, 10 seconds)

After the match Nakajima shook hands with HAYATA, but not Eita. Who he just walked past as if he wasn't there. Eita felt that he really should have got one, especially after being kicked in the face.

MATCH FIVE

3 Way Match

Ninja Mack vs Dragon Bane vs Alpha Wolf

As expected, this was not the most fair match for Ninja Mack, but also as expected, the brothers did scupper each others chances by breaking pins.

WINNER: Ninja Mack with the Oklahoma Roll on Dragon Bane (11 minutes, 43 seconds)

Ninja Mack dedicated today's win to Alejandro, who is absent due to a concussion.

MATCH SIX

STINGER (Yoshinari Ogawa & Daga) & LEONA vs Shuji Kondo, Seiki Yoshioka & Hajime Ohara

Yoshinari Ogawa wanted Shuji Kondo out of everyone. 

Winner: Seiki Yoshioka with the Crash Driver on LEONA (12 minutes, 57 seconds)

Neither Ogawa or Daga went to help LEONA, from what I could tell from pictures, they were too busy talking. 

MATCH SEVEN

Kaito Kiyomiya & Ryohei Oiwa vs Adam Brooks & Stallion Rogers

Adam Brooks and Stallion Rogers were not the most cohesive team (although Stallion was gentlemanly enough to offer a handshake to Kaito Kiyomiya and Ryohei Oiwa, which was accepted), as they didn't get along. One fan referred to them as "Marty's dad and Biff" from Back To The Future.

Winner: Kaito Kiyomiya with the Transformed Shining Wizard on Stallion Rogers (10 minutes, 14 seconds)

MATCH EIGHT

El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jnr & Manabu Soya vs Kenoh & Lance Anoa'i

Once again Kenoh went to start against Manabu Soya, and once again Lance Anoa'i picked him up from around the waist and removed him, and started against Soya himself. Kenoh, still grumpy from earlier and rattled by Anoa'i once again using his size against him, refused to shake hands with El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jnr when he offered. 

Winner: Manabu Soya with the Jumping DDT on Lance Anoa'i (13 minutes, 41 seconds)

MATCH NINE

Good Looking Guys (Jake Lee & YO-HEY) vs Go Shiozaki & Hi69

Shiozaki bounced back with a vengeance today, brawling with Jake outside the ring, chopping him and making Jake react in rage by grabbing his throat and even choking him on the entryway. Although Shiozaki didn't win over Jake, he sent a message by knocking him down. 

Winner: Go Shiozaki with the Gowan Lariat on YO-HEY (15 minutes, 35 seconds)

After the match, Shiozaki took the GHC Heavyweight, and looked at it for a few moments before draping it over Jake. He then motioned for him to get to his feet (Shiozaki once said "In front of everyone the champion stands on two legs. The GHC has that kind of weight."). Jake went to haul himself up, but couldn't, and rolled out of the ring. 

Shiozaki then closed out the show with, 

"Jake, 24th September, Nagoya, I'm taking your GHC. Thank you, Kasukabe! The GHC returns to my waist! I am NOAH! We are NOAH!"
