(NOAH) EVENT RECAP: SUNNY VOYAGE 2023 (Kyoto KBS Hall, Kyoto - Sunday November 12th)

When fans arrived at the venue, Yoshinari Ogawa was in the ring finishing up a "classroom", from what I could make out he was teaching Yu Owada and possibly/probably Ryohei Oiwa, although the figure was vague and may well have been Taishi Ozawa. For the fans who came to the venue by rail, Shuji Kondo had set up a pop up shop at the station to sell his patisserie. 

Today's event will be streamed from the 15th November at 18:00 JST on WrestleUniverse. As there was no Instagram stream or otherwise, I will run down everything that happened with the results following on at the end.

- Alejandro had stated on social media that he was terrified of his opponents, and he had good reason as fans commented on the physical difference between himself and X-Treme Tiger and REAL (Saxon Huxley and Shuhei Taniguchi).

- LEONA is still talking about Eita. Eita is still ignoring his very existence. 

- I don't think this is a return of the Sugiura Army following tonight's show, but Sugi said that tonight The Sugiura Army was back with "Sugi-chan" and "Wag-chan" (this is the nickname that Noah fans have given El Hijo Del Dr Wagner Jnr). 

- Things are not looking good for Anthony Green as Daiki Inaba defeated him again, this time in a singles match. This was probably made worse by his partner, Jack Morris, defeating Inaba's partner, Masa Kitamiya.

- Shuji Kondo scolded Junta Miyawaki for losing. Junta didn't tap out, he was pinned by Daga who deliberately used the King Kong lariat on him to send a message to Kondo. 

The show was closed out by Good Looking Guys. In particular, Tadasuke singing to the crowd. I remember a certain event held in Osaka whereby someone got drunk and sang out the audience, but reports suggest that Tadasuke (a local Kyoto boy) was sober.  Tadasuke started off by saying;

"I'm so happy to have won in Kyoto, my hometown! I'm feeling so good, let me sing a song here! Please listen to Yashiki Takajin's, "Tokyo!"

The song Tadasuke sung is the theme from Neon Genesis Evangelion. It is also quite ironic in a way that he chose to sing it in Kyoto (the former capital of Japan), as the singer was quite vocal in saying that he didn't like Tokyo and in any case, had a history of bust ups with Tokyo radio stations and broadcasting networks. As Tadasuke sung, Good Looking Guys sat down in the ring around him. 

Afterwards, Jake spoke on the mic (and made another Yashiki Takajin reference in his speech); 

"When you think of Kyoto, what do you think? Gion, Maiko* etc. When it comes to food, it's Yatsuhashi*, right? But when speaking of Kyoto, for us, it is Tadasuke. When you think of Kyoto, you think of Tadasuke*. I think we have that mission, and an obligation to do that."

Jake paused to let the crowd applause and then continued; 

"I will continue to spread the word (about GLG) and further revitalize this promotion, Noah. That's my duty. But, how can I say something so outrageous? The reason is that although I have lost the belt, I am still at the helm of Noah."

Notes: 

- Maiko are apprentice Geisha, they train/live and work in the Gion district, and the lesser known (compared to Gion that is) Ponto-cho. 

- Kyoto savory biscuit, made with rice flour and usually seasoned with cinnamon. The biscuit means welcome, the three cups of green tea means that it is time to go. 

- "You think of Kyoto, you think of Tadasuke" - parody of a line from a song by Japanese musician Hanawa who said, "When you think of Osaka, you think of Yashiki Takajin"
