(NOAH) The Man Who Saved The Ark
18th December 2024 (Issue no 2332)
In addition to this series, Director Takeda has recently been writing about various things on NOTE from the perspective of the person in charge of the operation of Noah. NOTE is "a media platform where creators can post content such as text, audio, and images, and users can enjoy and support that content." Director Takeda's goal is to make Noah's fans enjoy it even more. Articles can be either paid or free, and they can be paid for from the middle of a sentence. Recently, more and more pro wrestlers with literary talent are using NOTE.
The reason this series started in the first place was because Director Takeda asked me at the beginning of last year if he could post regular notes. Although he had been posting irregularly up until then, due to his important position as Noah's operations manager, it cannot be denied that work on notes had been slow to come to a halt. "I used to do it on the official Noah blog (and also individually), but writing on NOTE officially isn't my main job, so the reality was that not only me, but also the other employees and wrestlers couldn't continue". The wrestlers and employees have their own jobs to do, so the company can't force them to communicate in writing, but a medium like NOTE allows them to explain things to fans directly in their own words, without going through the media. Moreover, depending on the person, it can be done quickly if necessary. Director Takeda felt this need strongly during this year's New Year Ariake Arena event. "At the Ariake show, slanderous comments were made directly to the wrestlers about the match order, and I, who decided the match order, issued an official apology. This caused further outrage, and I was unable to convey my message well, which made me realize that "writing is difficult." While social media like X, as well as NOTE, has the advantage of being able to directly communicate your thoughts to your fans, there is also the possibility that it may be taken differently than you intended. And when that happens, in this day and age, you end up hearing a lot of voices that you wouldn't normally need to hear. "It's not like NOTE, but these days anyone can send out messages on their own. What you often see on X is talk about other promotions, not Noah, and for some reason the opinions are that "Noah was good in the past, but it is no good now." So then it turns into talk like "Takeda's fault" (bitter laugh). This is often said about Noah, but of course there are many people who like the current Noah, and the old Noah was created by Misawa (Mitsuharu) and cannot be imitated. If you try to follow that, it will become a fake, so I want to create something different from the old one, but something real, and I think the people who are coming to the venues now like the current Noah. However, there are also times when people come even though they don't like it, which is the depth of professional wrestling, and this is also part of the difficulty of the professional wrestling business in an age where individuals can communicate. Nowadays, individuals can give their opinions to promotions, and we can also individually express what promotions aim to achieve."
In order to continue not only a professional wrestling promotion but also any business, the founder's philosophy is of course important, but it is difficult to continue on that alone. In particular, the entertainment industry needs to be aware of the trends of the times. The entertainment industry in particular needs to be aware of the trends of the times. For example, in in the case of Noah, during Misawa's time, social media had not yet taken hold in society. Just that alone meant that the way Noah was run was obviously very different.
"We live in an age where we are prone to being hit by irrelevant topics, but we have to keep rising in order to continue the business. It's not just a matter of working hard, but maintaining a status quo that will not last in order to keep us going. We live in an age where we have no choice but to go up, and we have to work hard."
In this context, Director Takeda also started working on NOTE as one of the things he could do to "raise" Noah. There were several reasons why he decided to get serious about it.
"Recently, when I was talking to my seniors in the industry, I was surprised to learn that many people keep documents and records from their past work. I didn't keep many of them, so I felt the need to do so. Also, I have a regular meeting with ABEMA every week, and I had a tough meeting with Kitano-san*, and and since he is someone I have had a deep connection with in my career in the industry, that's what prompted me to write down what I remember. However, I thought I wouldn't be able to maintain my motivation if it was free, so I decided to write it in detail as a paid for article".
