(ALL JAPAN) '85 is the year of All Japan Pro! "There's no need to fear Choshu, International, or the Singh army."

Weekly Pro
1st & 15th January 1985 (Issue No 75)

The Japanese wrestling world has been in turmoil since the end of 1984. Would it be an exaggeration to say that All Japan is at the epicenter of it all? In any case, it is a fact that All Japan's defensive image is changing. Right from the start of 1985, three armies - the Choshu Army, the International Army, and the Singh Army - will invade All Japan, and the true worth of the All Japan Army will be put to the test.
With the rise of the Kakuryu duo* and the big leaps made by Tiger Mask, All Japan Pro is full of promising news, so there are high hopes for it. The all-important scrum work has become even stronger, and All Japan has All Japan Pro Wrestling has gone from a calm zone to storm winds. Something's going to happen!!

Notes
Kakuryu duo: The team of Jumbo Tsuruta and Genichiro Tenryu. Their name came from "Tsuru" (crane) and Tenryu's "Ryu" (dragon). Tsuruta was initially unhappy with the pronunciation of his name as "Kakuryu," saying in interviews on TV and in pro wrestling magazines, "My name is Tsuruta, so it's 'Tsururyu'," but "Kakuryu" stuck because it sounded better (note, "Kaku" is the on'yomi or Chinese reading which is usually used in compound words, whereas "Tsuru" is the kun'yomi, native Japanese word usually used for single kanji or kanji followed by hiragana)
Singh Army: Tiger Jeet Singh

Picture notes
The Kakuryu duo, having achieved their long awaited first victory in the "Strongest Tag Team" competition, now have a great mission to fulfill.
This year is the year where we can hope for a renewed sense of excitement from Babam and a big leap from Tiger Mask
All Japan is likely to take the lead in 1985. Teamwork will be crucial for that.
