The result was the same as the 2nd January Sapporo showdown, with both getting counted out. But the content of this fight was far superior. One reason is that Kobayashi was in top condition, unlike in Sapporo, where he had caught a cold. Another reason is that Kobayashi frankly admitted that "Tiger Mask has improved his skills."
Kobayashi's lariat, which he was aiming for as "payback for Sapporo," exploded on Tiger Mask just before the bell rang. Kobayashi, now the pacesetter, unleashed one move after another. Two submission moves hat particularly caught the eye were the chicken wing facelock and the triangle choke. Kobayashi, an avid researcher, recalls keeping a close eye on submission techniques while watching UWF (February 18th).
Tiger Mask also showed off his new weapons, a senton over the top rope and an avalanche brainbuster, launching dynamic attacks with the kind of difference that is characteristic of Tiger Mask.
As Tiger attempted a Tiger Suplex, Kobayashi hit a Fisherman's, but it was broken by a rope break. After Tiger's brainbuster sends both men to the outside of the ring, they engage in a fight, settling the score. Still excited, Kobayashi issued a new challenge: "Next time, I'll bet my hair, so you fight for your mask too!"
Whether Tiger accepts or not, things are sure to heat up!

Notes
New Kokugikan is Ryogoku Kokugikan aka Sumo Hall. It had just opened in 1985 after relocation from the old Kuramae Kokugikan.
