(NOAH) The highly anticipated singles match between former junior champions Kotoge and Iwamoto from Noah and All Japan, ended in a draw.
8th & 15th January 2025 (Issue no 2335)
Koji Iwamoto is a formidable wrestler who has won the World Junior Heavyweight Championship four times in All Japan. He began participating in LIMIT BREAK in July, and had his sights set on Atsushi Kotoge, a three-time Noah Junior Heavyweight Champion. The singles match that finally materialized ended in a 20-minute time limit draw.
"He's strong and has experience backed by his career, so at times I felt like I was being manipulated. I thought during the match that I had to do something about that, but I think making me think that was also part of his plan. It was probably a strategy to delay my next attack by one or two moves. This isn't the end. I want to keep going, but I also want to get to know the other Noah junior wrestlers."
Indeed, Kotoge controlled the match with skillful maneuvering that day. After a fierce exchange of blows, Iwamoto was thrown outside the ring and subsequently became more defensive, perhaps preventing him from fully unleashing his usual intensity.
In fact, Kotoge later commented, "I thought he'd be more aggressive and come at me hard, but he was just observing my moves." Neither wrestler wants to continue this unresolved stalemate any longer.
What kind of match will the rematch they've both requested be?
