(NOAH) Owada pulls off an upset victory against the higher-ranked Nagao. "I'll keep this up and crush Aoki and Nakamura too!"
8th & 15th January 2025 (Issue no 2335)
This match was arranged after Yu Owada, who lost to Satsuki Nagao of ZER01 in a six-man tag team match at Shin-Kiba on November 24th, sought revenge. He was pushed back considerably by a higher-ranked opponent who was older and more experienced, and who had even challenged Akitoshi Saito for the World Heavyweight Championship in April of this year. However, he never lost his fighting spirit and fought with unwavering determination. In the end, he secured the three-count with his signature reverse pin.
"This was the last Limit Break of 2024, and I'm glad I was able to give it my all from the very first match and win decisively against Nagao. I don't know when we'll face each other again, but I'll win next time too. I'll keep this momentum going and in the remaining match, DDT on the 28th December at Ryogoku, I'll crush Kenoh, Shinya Aoki & Keigo Nakamura and win!"
In 2024, he defeated his senior, Taishi Ozawa (now OZAWA), at the Ariake Arena on 2nd January, and entered the Victory Challenge Tag League with Kenoh. He also competed in both the MONDAY MAGIC and LIMIT BREAK brands, having the most matches of any Noah wrestler. He's been getting results little by little, like today, and he would like to start competing for a title soon.
DDT 12.28 Ryogoku - great expectations for Owada in 2025!
Picture notes
After the match, Nagao offered a handshake, but when Owada tried to accept, Nagao brushed him off. "Next time, I'm challenging Owada. Anytime is fine. Even years from now is fine. When that time comes, I'll beat him so badly that it won't just be double the payback."
