(AJPW) "The Black Sorcerer's" bloody charge fails to penetrate Baba's solid defences.
February 1973
The first match for the World Heavyweight Championship title—part of All Japan Pro Wrestling's "Giant Series Part 2"—took place on the night of December 6th at the Yonezawa City Gymnasium before a capacity crowd of approximately 5,600 fans. Giant Baba faced off against Abdullah the Butcher; Baba successfully repelled Butcher's "Bloody Onslaught" with a 2-1 victory, taking another step closer to the golden belt.
Baba smashed Butcher's forehead against the ring post, then followed up with a blow to the crown of the head, causing the wound to burst open like a split pomegranate!
Picture notes
Butcher attacked Baba's head with what Weekly Pro said, was "a piece of lumbar about 40cm long."
