Chronology
The GHC Heavyweight Tag titles were last held by Naomichi Marufuji and Akitoshi Saito, but had to be vacated when Marufuji became injured. Noah held a tournament on the 7th December between Go Shiozaki & Katsuhiko Nakajima, Kenoh & Masa Kitamita (Nakajima's old partner), Cody Hall & Maybach Taniguchi and 50 Funky Powers to determine the winner.
Prior to this, Go Shiozaki had hinted in his usual quiet way, that he was interested in the belts by picking up one of the two that Akitoshi Saito had bought to the ring with him, and pointing at it. It was first thought that he would team with Atsushi Kotoge, but there was more a confirmation that it would be Nakajima, when he helped him out of the ring on the 7th December after the match with Kaito Kiyomiya.
Shiozaki and Nakajima have declared themselves to be the "mid-generation", two people who debuted in 2004 and during the remaining years of the "Golden Era" in Noah. Shiozaki is Noah born, Nakajima is not; but Nakajima did partially grow up in Noah before signing full time, so, like Eddie Edwards, he is considered in a way to be "Noah born".
As a result, Noah is now split into three armed camps in the era war - The Veterans, The Super New Generation Army and now the Mid Generation. There is also The Hooligans, but their more pests, and unconcerned with eras.
The majority of Go Shiozaki's recent GHC Heavyweight tag title reigns have been to get over younger heavyweights and ease them into the division. This one is for him.
Their first challenge came from two members of "The Hooligans". Yuji Hino (who does a type of trash talking sadly missing from Noah), got in the ring and said
"Shiozaki, you are a good looking guy, but your chops mean nothing. Nakajima-kun! Growing up! You are becoming an adult. You look like you've graduated from being a virgin".
Go Shiozaki accepted their challenge, and the match was signed for on the 9th December at Kira Messe for the 16th December in Yokohama.
Their first fight took place on December 9th at Kira Messe, with Nakajima and Hino fighting intensely. It was Hino who took the win, but not on the champions, more by using The Fucking Bomb on Noah's revolutionary hero, Atsushi Kotoge.
Yuji Hino, due to his schedule outside if Noah, did not appear in Noah for any more of the pre-matches, and the two teams clashed at Noah's final event of the year "Great Voyage in Yokohama Vol.2". The Hooligans ran riot in the match, bloodying up Shiozaki by a blow from the belt (the blood ran down his face turning him crimson, and on to his chest, it went in his mouth making blood spray out when he was chopped) and using any weapons they could get their hands on.
Even the "help" of Atsushi Kotoge (resident self proclaimed "Revolutionary Hero") who came tearing down to the ring putting his cloak on as he ran, made no difference to the complete onslaught and outside interference, (Mitsuya Nagai even pulled the referee out once, and Cody Hall handed them items from President Uchida's table).
In the end the titles were lost when Yuji Hino did the "Fucking Bomb" on Go Shiozaki.
