Chronology
50 Funky Powers
After defeating Go Shiozaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima at "Great Voyage in Yokohama Vol.2" (in what can be termed as probably a very blood weapons match), "The Hooligans" were challenged for the titles by 50 Funky Powers. In usual sarcastic fashion, Hino got in the microphone and said, "Quiet Storm, my old friend" and made out that Storm had been very remiss about keeping in touch (this goes back to their K-DOJO days). Hino and Storm them got into a verbal row as Storm knew he was being sarcastic, and Yone had his "how can people be so mean?" face on. Nagai later asked how Hino could have hung around with "such a child" (after he had called Quiet Storm a "runt"), and Hino said somewhat tongue in cheer to Taniguchi, that they would defend this belt with no funny business from now on after winning it "fair and square".
However, due to the way the belts were lost on the 16th December, Go Shiozaki and Katsuhiko Nakajima were granted a rematch on the 6th January 2019 at Korakuen Hall.
To be brutally honest, while The Hooligans may have kept their (sarcastic) promise not to have any bloodshed, the match was found to be somewhat tiresome due to the continued outside interference by them. That said, there were highlights though, especially when Katsuhiko Nakajima and Yuji Hino had a chop\kick war, and Hino (in usual sarcastic manner) gave a big yawn after being kicked. Nakajima, however, seemed to take on another form after that, his sarcastic smile faded and his eyes seemed to fill up black.
The Hooligans won (via sneak tactics) with the Zwei Bomb on Go Shiozaki.
The Hooligans were next challenged (again) by 50 Funky Powers, who came to the ring. Yuji Hino told Mohammed Yone that "the Afro is dead". Quiet Storm told them that everyone hated them and the way they did their matches, and that they would destroy them.
Yuj Hino's sarcastic reaction to Quiet Storm |
Yuji Hino was not able to be in Noah for most of the build up to the title match due to his outside progress, so his place was taken by one of the other Hooligans (mainly Cody Hall). 50 Funky Powers seemed to form an unofficial alliance with Akitoshi Saito, but they suffered the usual weapon attacks and one point Yone was put in a hold so tight by Hall that his hands turned white was his circulation was cut off, no wonder he commented that everything hurt, especially his legs.
In the pre-matches, the two teams failed to get the direct win over each other, although 50 Funky Powers, tagging with fellow veteran, Akitoshi Saito, did manage to get the victory through him. In their singles matches before the title match on the 1st February, Yuji Hino defeated Quiet Storm (in a match that both of them bought everything to the table in, with Quiet Storm using moves that he didn't often, such as missile dropkicks), and Maybach Taniguchi got disqualified against Mohammed Yone for the usual reasons such as use of weapon and outside interference.
After his match with Quiet Storm, Yuji Hino made the comment that he was worried about "his former best friend" who was teaming with "an idiot who did a strange dance", and said that he may introduce a stipulation, that if 50 Funky Powers lost the match, then Quiet Storm would be forced to join "The Hooligans".
Mohammed Yone addressed the issue of the interference by The Hooligans during the title match, and said that he would be arranging seconds. I would imagine that these seconds will be Akitoshi Saito and Takashi Sugiura, Saito of course being able to beat The Hooligans, and Sugiura has a small grudge with them thanks to being choked with the Sasumata in a macabre group photo.
For the title match at Korakuen Hall, Mohammed Yone bought out an army of seconds, which consisted of all of his allies in the veteran army, and all of which were sick of The Hooligans and their cheating ways. The seconds consisted off Akitoshi Saito, Takashi Sugiura, and Naomichi Marufuji. They kept the Hooligans at bay by fighting them off each time they attempted to get involved in the match, allowing Quiet Storm to win the title with the Funky Buster Bomb.
